Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 211cm

Posted on Saturday 6th February 2016 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Morning from Hakuba where we have some fresh snowfall for the beginning of the weekend.

It has been snowing pretty good as well this morning. 5cm on the ground so far and resorts around the valley are reporting generally 10cm of fresh on mountain, with Hakuba 47 going up to 20cm. If it carries on snowing like this the cm will soon be adding up as well.

This is what we like!

With heavy snow falling especially on upper areas of resorts, expect limited visibility at times - but some very nice conditions! I'm sure people will be able to accept the visibility thing - just be sure to know where you're going.

This snowfall is forecast to ease off during the day today. Or is it? The below forecast gives us heavy snow tonight, while others say just cloudy. Who knows. Let's just see - and in the meantime enjoy the moment.

All of the forecasts do agree on Monday probably being a fine day to be followed by more snowfall on Tuesday-Wednesday.

Have a fun day.
