Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this season 366cm

Posted on Saturday 4th January 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Greetings from Hakuba.

The good news continues this morning.

Ski areas are reporting up to 25-30cm on upper areas, and I have measured 20cm myself since yesterday.

Right now down at base it is quite bright in places with the sun trying to break through some clouds.

Visibility is generally much more limited up at higher elevations, though varied across the region.

We may get some sun tomorrow (forecasts seem to be predicting different things), but I'm seeing more good snowfall incoming from around Tuesday onwards.

It doesn't look like the very pleasing snowfall patterns this season are about to change!

(Just noticed: reluctant to spoil the vibes, but there might be some rain on Monday before the next big snow comes. Hopefully we can avoid that).
