Woo-hooo! It's only a little bit, but it's hard not to get excited about having snow on the car roof this morning down here near base.
In places, even around bases of ski areas, it's more like just a dusting - and there doesn't seem to be that much snow even higher up on the mountains - but I can just about justify the first cm of the season for this report. May there be many hundreds more!
Still a lot of cloud around but some blue sky is appearing too. We can perhaps expect more of that as the morning progresses.
Forecasts show the next snow to be with us later Friday.
