Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 8cm
Snowfall at base this season 168cm

Posted on Wednesday 18th December 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Hakuba.

Happo-one winning the 'most reported snowfall' award this morning with 30cm. Other ski areas are telling us snowy tales of between 5 and 20cm across the mountains.

Night skiing starts at Hakuba Goryu from this coming Saturday (21st December). At one time there used to be much more 'nighta' on offer in the region, so it's good to see Goryu still keeping that going!

I have said similar in previous recent reports, but surely... surely... with all the snow we have received, come Saturday, more lifts and ski runs will be opening up.

I just love it when we get to the stage where I can just say 'everywhere is open'. And not just because it makes my early morning information hunt easier! The sooner the better, for us all.
