Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 338cm

Posted on Friday 13th March 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

We have had something of a dusting of snow. A few hours ago, there was enough for me to add 1cm to this report. That has since largely gone from my measuring point and the roads, and you can't really see it on the images this morning. It was there, though!

The only snow being reported by ski areas this morning curiously is 1cm at Tsugaike.

A grey morning and cloudy right now and about -1C, though it is fairly bright and the sun is trying to break through.

Forecasts seem to be saying cloudy conditions over the next few days, with the chance of some light snow at times and maybe a bit of sun.

It has kept cold these last run of days and perhaps next week we will see temps rising a bit. Not too much, please!
