Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 36cm

Posted on Monday 13th December 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

It's Monday morning so hello and welcome to a new week from here in Hakuba.

So how did that weather turn out then? Well, the rain that we got did (sort of) turn into snow. Down at base we have just a dusting really. (I am being generous with that 1cm added to the report).

The better news is that Hakuba 47 and Hakuba Goryu are both reporting 10cm of fresh snow on their upper areas.

As I write this the lifts at Happo-one are on hold due to wind. Top lifts at 47/Goryu may also be affected. So it sounds like it is windy on the mountain.

It's cloudy, there's light snow falling in places, but there is also some blue sky around and it feels like the clearer skies might win out, thought it should remain cold.

Clearer, calmer and a bit milder weather is due back tomorrow.
