Independent snow and weather reporting from the Geto Kogen region of Iwate

New snowfall at base 8cm
Snowfall at base this season 773cm

Posted on Friday 2nd February 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here.

Up to 15cm of snow being reported by the ski area this morning after a mostly windy day yesterday.

It's still quite windy (not as much) and snow is still falling though we aren't expecting much in terms of new cm.

A cold morning and the wind probably makes it feel that bit extra cold.

The forecast looks like it will be some kind of mix of cloud, sun, snow at times. Hopefully wind won't get in the way.

Lifts operating (planned):

All scheduled lifts operating but there may be some lift disruption due to wind today.

The Number 2 gondola is normally closed on weekdays.

Runs open (planned):

Most of the main runs should be open with some restrictions.

Scheduled to open tree runs: Unclear at the start of the day, but Extreme and Cascade are not opening.

All subject to change due to conditions.

Official snow depth (reported by the ski area):

268cm (top)

205cm (base)
