Independent snow and weather reporting from the Geto Kogen region of Iwate

New snowfall at base 24cm
Snowfall at base this season 813cm

Posted on Wednesday 12th January 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here.

It's snowing. About 10cm overnight and 24cm since yesterday. More in some places because it has been windy, and it still is. Right now it is actually fairly bright but we are expecting a day of snow and wind.

The gondola, number 1 pair and quad are scheduled to be open today, but there is a chance that there'll be disruption due to the wind. Same for tomorrow too. Lots of snow due though.

The Number 2 pair will be rested through Friday this week due to some kind of maintenance, so it says on the website.

Courses open:

All normal courses open.

Planned tree run courses: Heart, Rabbit, Garden, Summit, Beach, Stream. Opening depends on conditions.

Lifts operating (subject to change):

Some lifts might be affected by wind today.

Official snow depth:

Upper: 355cm

Lower: 220cm
