Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 16cm
Snowfall at base this season 356cm

I went, I saw, I skied.

It was my kind of skiing on the resort today - just spent the morning up there, both zones, and it was sunny at times, snowy at times, never windy, thigh deep if you look out for it, and knee deep on the sides of many runs - really easily accessible.

The last two days had such a lot of snow and were so popular that I thought it might be a bit skied out today but nup. Nothing scratchy or even skied down, really.

Was -6C in town just now when I crossed the Sorachi River.

Resort are holding their base report at 180cm, but I have no doubt it's deeper. My house has more than a metre around it so... The depth is pretty irrelevant in Furano, what counts is fresh on top, and we have fresh on top with more falling lightly now.
