Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this season 470cm

Posted on Saturday 27th January 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

The report is late today so I guess it is more of a wrap up of the day. There was moderate snowfall overnight and then quite a bit accumulated mid morning as well, bringing the total since the last report to 20cm. On the resort it was fantastic this morning with large areas left ungroomed and plenty of trackless powder for everyone. The day started of with low cloud on the resort, which limited visibility on the upper half of the mountain and then later the cloud lifted, although light was still flat at times. Continuous light snow is forecast through tomorrow and then some heavy snow Sunday night.

Kitanomine Zone open.
