Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 111cm

Posted on Friday 26th December 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

Looks like a cracker today with plenty of sunshine against blue sky with some clouds here and there. Don't be fooled by the sunshine though, as the temperatures are really cold with -14c recorded at the top of the resort this morning. The recent snow falls combined with more terrain opening up means that the resort is kicking off into full winter mode, and the skiing on the fresh light powder quickly reminds us as to what the Furano experience is all about. There are still quite a few slopes with stones getting churned up, but other than that conditions are great. Family and Junior courses in Kitanomine opened yesterday and were immediately enjoyed by the beginner and intermediate crowds. Today's news is that the Furano Zone Downhill Romance 3 chair will open at 10am giving advanced skiers access to the steeper terrain on Panorama Course.

Opening, lift & other notes:

Prince Romance chair 8:30-20:00

Furano Ropeway 8:30-15:30

Downhill Romance 2 chair 8:40-15:30

Downhill Romance 3 chair 10:00-15:30

Link lift 9:00-15:30

Kitanomine Swift 1 chair 8:30-15:00

Kitanomine Romance 2 chair 8:40:15:30
