Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 19cm
Snowfall at base this season 590cm

Posted on Saturday 24th February 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

Yesterday things went a bit tropical and temperatures pushed through to +2c during the day. This was evident by the heavier snow on the lower slopes and plenty of melt around town on the roads. Today is cooler and it is -6c right now, and will top out at-3c. The really good news is there has been a substantial amount of overnight snow that amounts to a very respectable 19cm. It will be a great powder day all over the mountain. While there is no wind, the cloud is right down to base level, so visibility will be limited until that cloud lifts.
