And winter continues to trudge drearily along this late into the ski season. There was a small threat that a snow storm passing through the area yesterday afternoon would transition over to a wintry mix/rain combination, but Old Man Winter held his grip. While the rest of Japan may be digging out and into spring, we received yet another all-snow event. This means that the slopes are still in prime condition, and snowfall totals haven't budged a bit from the 190cm we've been looking at for a while (actual snowfall totals are still much higher in places.)
Yesterday we saw about 5-10cm of the fluffy white stuff, and this morning saw a few more lingering snow showers. The forecast calls for this to continue throughout the day and into the evening, with temperatures staying a few degrees south of the freezing mark. Winds were gusting about a bit at the 10:00am mark, but on the whole they should stay relatively light today.
Tonight marks the end of Night Skiing Season - so for those of you who have yet to experience the thrill of a few runs under the stars, this evening is for you. Also, don't forget that tomorrow (Sunday the 24th) is the last day for ski lift operations in the Kitanomine Zone!
