Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this season 523cm

Posted on Sunday 17th January 2016 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

Looking up at the resort you couldn't describe the morning as anything other than perfect, with trees and buildings covered in 4cm of new snow and contrasting against deep blue skies. We had one of these days on Friday and now another...Furano is just turning on perfect snow with perfect conditions. Don't be fooled by the sun though, it is very cold out there with -17c recorded at the top of the resort at 7am.

We wont see much additional snow through today and it looks like tomorrow will be sunny at least in the morning. The strong winds are still on the forecast for Monday night and Tuesday morning, and a dusting of snow for Tuesday and Wednesday.
