I saw some incredible Ezorisu moves up on Mount Moiwa the other day - a border dispute, by the looks. You could take those moves straight onto the dance floor!

On a more serious note, Trolley Dollies already have one of the highest rates of miscarriage, apparently caused by the radiation on airplanes. Sad to think they'll now be getting zapped more, even if it is a low dose each time.
  2. Goodness me! I didn't see you there, Mini Me. Now don't you go saying that naughty word I said before. Bad man.

Yes, Brumm Brumm is a very good name.

Brrrruuuuuuuuuummm!!! BRRUUUUM! BRUUUMMM!! Fantastic! Push the digger over here! Give it a good push! That's...... AAH!! The digger smashed into face! I think I'm bleeding! Man that hurts! Oh well, at least my face already looked as rough as an ____.

Thanks Coldcat. I'm goggle shopping too. Which of those tints would alter the natural colours of the landscape the least? Obviously vis is priority one, but I hate feeling like I'm on Mars.
  4. Bravo Panhead! You've really captured the essence there.

For me: Doing my best to make the bean-counters at Kamori Ski Company regret selling me a season pass that allows me to shred Sapporo Teine on work days and Rusutsu on my days off, for only 70,000 yen.

I just can't wait. Last weekend I rode my bike up to Sapporo Teine just to gawk at the lifts and grassy slopes. I've already mentally mapped some tree runs!

  5. Nice try, but no. Okay, here's the skinny (pun intended) - a couple of weeks ago a breakthrough 'banana diet' was featured on daytime TV. My investigations (during paid lessons wink ) have established that it involves eating a banana and a glass of water for breakfast. I've corroborated the story with three students so I'm pretty sure about this. Result - bare banana stand.

Tonight I noticed that Tokyu have thoughtfully placed a basket of dried banana chips in the middle of the bare banana stand. Nice touch...

  6. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to truly get to know yourself. Sounds wanccy I know, but if you're successful you'll never be bored again. Climb a mountain and observe, consider and digest. Stay for hours. Go whenever your lady's at work. Ask yourself questions. Any questions. Answer as yourself, or someone else, or as an animal/plant. Contemplate flight, what's underground, geology, burrows, abandoned nests, winter food.

Re-create historical events in your mind's eye. Choose actual pieces of ground where people walked, fell, hunted whatever 1000 years ago. What would you have done? What seasonal/weather challenges would you have had to deal with. Choose your cover/lookout/store/bed. Build the story each day in the same spot. Time to move? Why? Where? What's better? What's worse?

Don't be embarrassed. It's only you.

Trust me. It takes a long time, but it works.

Of course there's a perfectly good notice explaining the situation, but my Japanese is light years from perfectly good. I did a bit of monkey-shrugging and eyebrow work at another disappointed punter but he wasn't forthcoming. confused

Okay, only a few minutes left before I close this one folks. I now have the answer. Any last minute takers? Why are there no (or very few) bananas in supermarkets across Sapporo (and maybe other towns)?
  8. Cost issues aside, I far prefer gas. But my first gas bill for three weeks for two people using gas for (reasonably short) showers only was 6000 yen. That's twice my electricity bill for the same period.

Not big figures, it's true. Just out of interest.

  9. By the sounds of it, most of you guys use oil heaters. Am I gonna go broke using my (brand new) gas heater? I thought it was a plus when I took the joint. Gas is cheap in Aus. I got a little electric blower unit. Use that instead? I don't dig the kero stink.
