Should be there but can't do the 3 day weekend at the end of the month. Probably before or after that time. Most likely be tenting it. What's your plan of attack SKI? Find me in the "campground" and I'll have a beer (or other drink) ready for you.

^^^ Car in bumper deep pow was something I hadn't seen before - nice.

Looks like it might have been from the late 80's - interesting though. How'd you find it?

t'inta = internet ?? Broadband - maybe, I think. I'm not the most computer savy guy. The signal goes from our hut to another across the valley and then down towards Matsumoto. It's unreliable at best and often goes down for days at a time; guess you get what you pay for
SKI - all the supplies come up by helicopter; about every 2 or 3 weeks we'll get 7 - 10 loads brought up. Each load is roughly 600kg of food, beer, juice, propane, kerosene, etc. -

Thanks for all the comments guys.
The water stopped flowing about a month ago but we've got more than enough to get us through to the end - just 22 days left till we close for the season.

This thread needs some pics.

The terminology does get confusing at times, and everyone seems to have a slightly different definition. I'd agree with Go Native's explation, although I can't really comment on the Niseko comparisons.

cheers!
Getting a car is definately a good idea - even better if it's one you can comfortably sleep in. -
Tlen - sorry to see you haven't gotten any responses yet. I'm out in the Hokuriku area and usually get out for some BC touring about once a week in the winter and spring. I'm sure there's a few others in Tokyo so just wanted to bump this to the top for you. If you ever head out this way let me know and maybe we can meet up.

Robson - just curoius as to what sort of visa you'd be coming over on. As an American, I'm guessing it'd be a 90 day tourist visa. Not to discourage you but that might make it a little more difficult to find a job. There are places that will still "hire" you and pay under the table, but there's a bit of risk involved obviously. Your best bet might be just to bring over all your graduation money and have a good time skiing and spending that for the winter.

Different sort of ski movie, but I'd have to go with "Hot Dog" with "Better Off Dead" a close second.

Much better with the pics - thanks. It was good to see snow and llamas again.

10 -1 odds. But I hope I'm wrong. -
Yes, pics - please . There's been a lack of TRs and ski pics these past few months (probably because its summer).

I was thinking the same thing. Is there now one less telemarker on SJ??
Most of my skiing will probably still be on tele's (knees willing) but I'm getting this AT setup for big mountain touring, specifically for the ski mountaineering trip next year in China.
Glad to hear, and looking forward to the TR. -
Reckon you could've gotten a couple of turns in on that patch of snow in the 2nd pic

And one for my fellow free heelin' brethren...
Nothing to do with Japan, I'm afraid but some good stuff and decent music.
-
I thought snowdude, the dancing green frog, was supposed to be good at this sort of thing.
-
yeah, old school
If you got those printed up on T-shirts, I'd be in for one.

Not much of a find really - was sitting on the front page of tgr and just figured it belonged here as well, being Japan and all.
Another decent one : http://www.meatheadfilms.com/galleries/video/564869912/ although in this case I think I'm biased being originally from the East Coast (US), and the music's pretty good too.

A bumpworthy thread...
1. Called in sick to work on the 3rd Friday of March for 4 years in a row to go skiing. "Management" never caught on (I think).
2. Been driving on an International Drivers Permit for the past 11 years - get my Mom to send me a new one from the US every April

Some great pics there - good to see a fellow telemarker getting the turn in. Hope the knee is doing better.
