    NO! He wanted SIX!!!
    His sister has NINE...

I managed to convince him that FOUR was plenty - and they ARE the most precious kids, I am glad he convinced me to have the four.

But come to think of it - he wanted loads of kids....he started the snowboarding thing off.... YUP! he IS the expensive blighter!! LOL

Hee hee - nah - that was our State Labor Government!! The Federal Liberal Governement kept threatening the states who held onto the redundant taxes that they would not get the GST income - but they ended up not following through...now that we have wall to wall Labor - no chance of it going now! Ahh well - c'est la vie!

At least you don't have to pay 3-5K to have a baby like we do here. Imagine the borth rate if that was the case..

Well...with Private Health insurance the last two cost me a couple of grand each in medical bill gaps... but I was more than highly fertile so no need for extra intervention and costs on THAT side of the pregnancy progression.

School Fee's - now that is another matter...
Not to mention supporting the snowboard habit!!
    Expensive blighters aren't they?!!

  3. Fresh Lines 99,

    You are gonna LOVE it!

I am hooked - an absolute Japan convert!

Nothing comes close to the experience.

One of the fellows in our group grew up in the UK and has lived all over the world - he has been ski-ing (and more recently snowboarding) for his entire life. He has laid down tracks all over the world, and his final word on the matter is that Japan is the pinnacle - he has never had it so good. High words of praise!

I can't wait to get some more pic's from THIS season!

  4. I gather your agent is maybe adding an extra premium for prebooking All Mountain as opposed to one area - unless the lift tickets are different prices at each of the resorts.

The price difference is not huge from Grand Hirafu to All Mountain per person - as they say 1800 yen.

We will definately go All Mountain this time - but it is not the first trip and not just 3 or 4 days... But you clearly have experience on your side - and exploring far and wide in a short time period might be just your style. Why don't you buy the tix when you get there and make the judgement on the day...

    Grand Hirafu

But it was my very first time in snow EVER!
We were travelling with experienced skiers and boarders though - they were rope ducking and hiking to the peak etc - they saw no need to go to the other places in a 10 day stretch - enough to keep them out of trouble!!

However we are going back in Jan - same group. Those with years of experience are planning on hiking Mt Yotei, and many of us are planning on visiting other resorts in the area for a day here and a day there - but we are going for 3-4 weeks...that is a whole different ball game than 3 or 4 days! Hopefully after some hard yards with a private instructor at Thredbo this year I will be ready to ride the whole mountain this time around.
  6. LOL!

Trying the be impartial in this discussion - but I am a Liberal girl through and through...

...my bet is on 'ruining' - but time will tell.

As others have said before me - the Left is looking quite right wing and the Right is becoming more left wing - they are now a much of a muchness...

Fark it. I'm going to reach for the Bourbon.

Ohh Mantas - I feel for ya! My brother had that procedure about a year back - not nice, but the pain really is gone pretty fast - so he tell me.

My lucky husband doesn't have to worry about that department - it is all up to me. I have Von Willebrands (similar to Haemophilia but not as scary) - so part of the treatment to keep me healthy by limiting blood loss also takes care of the fertility side of things....I don't think I ever saw a man smile as much when I told him of the diagnosis or the treatment!!! LOL

Not bad... you've almost hit $20k in baby bonuses!

    HA!
    I wish!!

They didn't bring in the bonuses until I had my 3rd...I think I got like $300 for him. And by the time I had the 4th (it was up to about $2000 by then) we were ineligible - have not seen a cent from the government in 10years! But we have sure paid them a bundle!! In fact - we had enough saved for a little holiday shack in Niseko - and then the buggers decided we had to pay PAYROLL tax that should have been abolished when the GST came in. Nest egg gone.

Nah - my friend - I was the young Mum who was handwashing the 3 grosuits we owned and drying them with a hair dryer while baby was wrapped in a blanket....times have changed - but I understand the hard times, and a baby bonus would have been MIGHTY welcome back then!
  9. That is really interesting.

With Australia being a 'multicultural melting pot' people officially gain the title of Australian when they take on citizenship. All the same rights and privaleges...

But I suppose those that look different or sound different will experience some level of racism/lack of acceptance as an Aussie in some circumstances.

At the moment I am concious of those Australians who have been here for yonks (some for generations) who are muslim and wear the hajib (is that the right word)...they tend to marry thier own people - so thier physical ethnicity is preserved, and they dress in a way that is very different to our norm. They stand out - and I would not be surprised in the current world situation if these people experience extreme levels of recism.

It is not just in Japan that this happens.

    So this only affects snowboarders.
Skiers can sigh a breath of relief!

    LOL!!

No, it effects 2 stick touro's as well!
I have to laugh - it was assumed "snowboarding" in this thread...I LOVE that! Usually it is the other way - assumed SKI. Well in Aus anyway.

I had one sales guy in a store at Jindabyne telling me that while I might not find this particular t-shirt funny ("Your Mum's a Ski Instructor") that my snowboarding son's would love it... when I looked at him quizzically he said "you do ski, don't you?" ummm...NO!......

The injured man and I have been doing some adult trips recently - you know - dump the kids on Nanna and Grandpa and nick off for a week or so clap.gif Well deserved I say - after 16 years of parental indentured service. Recently those trips were to Ireland, Scotland, England, France and China - places the kids are yet to see!

But WITH the kids we have been to Thredbo, Perisher and Smiggins, and Niseko for snow (from Perth, of course). The older kids have also skied (school trip - no snowboards allowed!) at Hotham, and eldest cub went to Cadrona NZ in July 07 (Yr11 School trip - snowboards permitted).

Apart from snow trips (a new experience and addiction for our family) we have taken the kids to Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Hawaii, Mainland USA, and a number of stops around Australia itself. Eldest Cub has stayed and attended school in Japan on a student exchange a couple of years back.

As far as immigration goes the two worst expereinces we had was a strip search for hubby at Sydney International, and an interrogation like process for the whole family leaving Hawaii for LA. That was the WORST. They were rude, aggressive and physical - even with the kids (youngest was just about to turn 5 at the time). Shoes off, frisked, bags fully emptied out and segregated from other passengers...this was the next immigration after the Sydney strip search, so I have always wondered if we were flagged at people to watch...
  12. Hee hee - I just got the funniest Powerpoint about him! It ranks him as the number one fornicator in front of John Holmes, Rock Hudson etc - because he is just about to SCR#W over the entire Aussie population!! I had to laugh!

Seriously. He seems a nice enough bloke. A complete nerd, well educated, religious family man. Not that dissimilar to old Johnnie Howard in actual fact. He is good at listening to his PR and promotional people and embraced the new era of campaigning via the internet, and developing good branding for the labor party.

I have personal concerns with some of the policies he is talking about implementing - but I do beleive his intention is good, and he is passionate about running Australia well.
