If you will notice a short guy with black hair and a board on his back! cest moi! Come to say hi!

    Cheers mate!
just got back from Kagura... still enough snow to enjoy, however, hhhhmmm... i didnt find it as exciting as other ski resorts ive been to (ie., Happo).

    regardless,...

were you one of those that got a free lift from a Japanese ojisan in his small van (there was one case of onigiri inside)?

PS: i only got to read this post only now, and if i read it a day earlier, i would have said "Hi"
Well, I actually enjoyed it quite a lot, it was a fine day and the snow was not too bad. The only things that kind of ruined the day was the wind at the afternoon.

That was not me, I took the bus to and from echigoyuzawa eki!

Well, next time then \:D I will most probably spend several days at Yuzawa during golden week to "close" my snowboard season.

    cheers
  2. Hi All,

Now that the winter is over and we are at April already most of the buses services at Yuzawa station

are not working anymore (for ex, I visited to iwappara last weekend and there were no buses anymore, I had to take a cab).

I was wondering if anyone knows how can I get to Mitsumata Kagura from Yuzawa station assuming I arrive by a shinkansen on a Saturday.

I tried to look it up on the english website without too much luck (well, also english is not my native lang).

    If anyone happens to know,

    I will appreciate it!

    Thanks.

personally we are heading to Okutadami Maruyama - its in niigata prefecture, 3 hours from tokyo maybe. its pretty fun, heaps of snow, but very few facilities. not much accomodation right at the mountain, but if you got a car its sweet.
    Thanks for the reply mate.

Well, I dont have a car this is why I visits Yuzawa area only (the tokyo's day trip). When I was coming for a weekend or a long one I also came to yuzawa due to the easy access to the area.

Actually I heard about Okutadami maruyama but i heard it is quite hard to access without a car as well I am not sure what is the situation there in regard to accomodation.

I will check the golden week ski deals.. lets see what they have to offer.. though, I guess I am going to find myself heading to yuzawa again .. probably it would be kagura or something like that. Not bad at all imho but i was hoping to try new places.
  4. Hi Mates,

I would like to go to do some haru-ski during golden week. I was thinking to go to Hokkaido.

I was wondering if someone can recommend a good ski resort at Hokkaido (please excuse my ignorance but I have never been to hokkaido for ski so i really have no clues).

also, I heard it is better to get a ski package rather buying everything separately. Anyone knows any good travel agency (that well .. maybe they can speak english or ..spanish).

    Cheers thumbsup.gif ,

    R.

PS. I forgot to mention that if someone think there is a better place to go to do some snowboarding during golden week i am open to suggestions!

  5. Hi Mates!

I am new to the forum and to the snowboard world. Just started 2 months ago but I am completely hooked.

I know I should have asked prior for my purchase but I bought myself a cheap beginners set, I was wondering if you think it was a good decision or I should have bought a more quality set from the beginning?

Anyhow, in the past two months I have been going nearly every weekend to snowboard and especially at Yuzawa as it is quite reachable from Tokyo (few times went with my colleagues with their cars but most of the time the shinkansen). I am planning to take two days off this week and would like to spend the night at Yuzawa to have 2 days of snowboarding. I will go during weekdays as I had enough from the packed parks during the weekend.

Now, I was browsing the Places To Stay section of the site, hunting for a decent place to spend the night at Yuzawa (probably Thbursday night) but I saw that most places offers only double rooms. Does someone knows a place that offers single rooms? Just for the record, I will go to Iwappara, so if it is near by iwappara that would be excellent.

    Thanks in advance,

    Ryo.
