The lard idea was the funniest.
My kids are 10 and 4 years old. Of course my 10-year-old and I go snowboarding together, but we'll be at a hotspring soon where we will be sliding.
Maybe I'll try the spread-on wax.

Hey y'all! Don't know if this has been asked before, but I've got my children's plastic sleds, bought here in Japan. They don't quite slide as quickly as we'd like, so I was wondering if it's OK to use ski-wax on them.
Would wax make em slide easier? Or would it gum them up. They're just cheap plastic.

Thanks for the reply, but Hakuba is a bit far for us. We're all living in Niigata City, so something within 2.5 hours would be ideal.
One friend recommended we look for a full rentable "pension."
Can anyone confirm this?

A few of us friends and family are planning/hoping to rent out a nice cottage this coming Christmas. It'll be weekdays, 3 nights and 4 days. Wer're thinking that about 5 to 6 families will be there, so we'll need some kind of cabin/cottage large enough for us to stretch out in front of the fireplace and let the kids run around and play.
Niigata or Fukushima prefecture would be the ideal distance.
Suggestions, anyone??

Yes, Alts is the closest big hill to the city, here. I jump on the highway and it's only an hour and 20 min drive to the slopes. To be honest, I was hoping the snow there would be good, as I dread a 3-hour long drive back home at the end of a day (as is the case with Myoko Kogen.)

I'm planning to head out from Niigata City this coming Wednesday to a hill as close as possible with good snow conditions. I was thinking Alts Bandai or Grandeko in Fukushima (an hour and a half drive from the city, here.) Or maybe Arai.
Any suggestions or advice?

I'm all for looking as different as possible. Make your mark on society while flashing a bold, bright victory for the anti-establishment. Tell "the man" where to go with his rules of normalcy! Bring down the fashion industry!

Now that fundamental point is out of the way, I'd like to say that I laugh at myself more than I laugh at anyone else. Otherwise, I could start taking this life waaaay too seriously and get a disease or something from worry.
Hey: if you've got the golden globes to go out in a very visible public place with the best lighting system in the whole world, wearing a fluorescent orange and yellow-speckled matching coat and pants and expect people not to look at you funny, then the world has simply passed you by, my friend.
(And I doubt my comments would hurt any of these grandstander's feelings.)If they can afford to frequent a ski-hill, they can certainly afford to live in the present-day fashion society. I do appreciate people willing to help the environment and recyle, though.
