Excitement is building, yes! Unlike some colleagues, I'm not into fall I want the snow to be here NOW.
We had over 4,000 people visit the site yesterday for the first time this season.

Mikuni was a weekend only resort last season.
About Yuzawa Nakazato - they have said something to the effect that they will make a decision whether to close that resort or not after seeing how business goes this season.

Hi sv, thanks for using the site.
There is a hotel section on SJ as well:
http://www.snowjapan.com/e/hotel/index.html
All the places on there are very happy to welcome non-Japanese speakers and support SJ.
Good luck.

sakebomb, yes that is correct... although if you have some cookie-deleting software on your machine it won't work unless you tell that software to "keep" the SJforums cookies.
gamera - your name may appear as being "online" a short while after you have finished using the forums - this functionality refreshes itself regularly, it's not always instant. Hope that helps a bit!

That thread on this new location can be found here:

By the way, an easy way to do this.... The last part is the same.
The bit that needs changing is this:
http://www.skijapanguide.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi/
...which needs to be changed to this...
http://www.snowjapanforums.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi/
(Don't click on the above 2 links, just showing you which part to change!)
Thanks

He just means it's very complex and the slightest setting that is off will make the whole thing collapse!

Passing on this info for anyone interested!
"This Saturday Febuary 1st, the 2003 Nagano Ski Trip will be hosting a MONSTER SIZE party at Hakuba's now infamous CLUB VALANCE (previously Club Universe). Doors are open from 9pm-6am. We are expecting at least 50 Brazilian stunners from Cortina, need I say more?!? The price on the door is 2000yen (this includes one free drink). Our DJ, Fergus, will be playing a mixture of everything. Come along, get drunk, it should be a crazy night.
See you there,
Jon, Andre, Phil"

We'd also like to know about places to stay up there (as well as other areas we don't currently cover).......

Good, let us know if you hit any problems...although it should be working fine...

Final comments on this issue.
Quote:one point is that the snowfall depths on the forecast pages and likewise with the now reports have been inaccurateSecondly, our Now reports are not "inaccurate". They are meant to give people who do not live in the nearby area an idea of the weather and snow conditions in some of the popular mountain towns and resort areas. Yuzawa Now covers the general conditions at Yuzawa town, a town with 19 separate resorts. Likewise there are a great many resorts in Hakuba etc.
We are going to close this topic now, so that we can concentrate on continually improving the site instead of answering questions about our reporting publically.
If there are any issues you wish to bring up (or even feel that there are serious inaccuracies in our Now reports) - then please do so by emailing us at editor@snowjapan.com
Thank you.
PS Just to add to the above comments: we don't want to discourage threads and posts on weather and snow conditions on the forums - far from it, the more the better!
The point being...if you wish to bring up an issue concerning our reporting, then please do mail us about it....thanks

A new webcam image of Niseko Hirafu resort has been added to the Niseko Now page. The image is currently updated every 30 minutes.
Click on the Niseko Now link at the top of this page to get there....
Looks for further updates soon....
Thanks
--------------
PLEASE NOTE: As with all webcame/images from resorts, we don't actually have any control over them. As of 1:30pm Sunday it seems there is some technical problem with this particular image....
