The new system we have made is so much better to look at, easier to use, there's even a search feature
, and we're going to make it much more prominent on the site. So we hope that lots of people will "discover" that part of the site for the first time...they've been almost hidden from view in a way until now (sorry!) There's a lot of good reading on there, we want to bring all that out in the open..Another few days.

A contest for those unfortunate souls that cannot get away early on a Friday, The Club at ARAI MOUNTAIN & SPA helps you to make the most of your two-day weekend.
Upon arrival at the resort, you and a friend will be whisked up to the The Club while your bags are being checked and snow gear sent ahead to the ski cloak. Within the Executive Lounge reserved for Club Guests, the two of you can enjoy a complimentary beverage & snack service and also get changed into your snow gear. It is within this area that each of you will receive TWO days of priority lift tickets that can be taken to the exclusive Club Ski Cloak.
Priority Lift Tickets and the Ski Cloak both deserve special mention. The Ski Cloak is located on the second floor of The Club near the Plaza Foyer. Ski Cloak staff take care of your equipment throughout your stay. Such a system takes all the strain out of hauling your equipment around and allows you just to enjoy using it. The priority lift ticket allows you to bypass any lift line-ups on the mountain via special passageways (including those for the Gondola located only one minute on foot away from the Ski Cloak).
Upon returning to The Club after hitting the slopes, Ski Cloak staff will take, wipe, dry and store your equipment, so that you can return to your luxurious Guest Room in comfortable footwear and drier clothing.
In addition to the Executive Lounge, Club Guests also have exclusive access to a Billiards Room on the second floor of The Club and a fitness room/ Outdoor Jacuzzi & Sauna area found on the first floor of the hotel. Naturally, the priority lift ticket also serves as a complimentary pass for both the Japanese Baths and the indoor pool during your visit to the resort, even for the remainder of the day after checking-out.
Following a refreshing night at The Club, the following day can also include a full day out on the slopes. When finished, drop your gear at the ski cloak and stop by the Executive Lounge for refreshment before hitting the Japanese baths or the Spa. Don’t worry, there is lots of time to play before departure because the return shuttle stops at The Club first for priority boarding.

Not sure who is doing this, but it seems that there is currently an offer on where people who have made a booking in a Yuzawa hotel (or other regions of Niigata) can get a special "Gambatteimasu Niigata" bus from Tokyo to Niigata for just 500 yen.
The offer is on until Dec 25th apparently.
The "One Coin Bus" will stop at Yuzawa, Sanjo and Tsukioka.

Good to hear sanjo.
I'm in Niigata and haven't felt anything here for the last 10 days or so.
I believe the good people down in Yuzawa haven't felt any shaking for about 2-3 weeks now.
I very nearly moved to Nagaoka earlier this year, kinda glad I didn't now. I couldn't imagine multiple shakes on a daily basis for such a long time.
Let's hope this is the end of it.

Discounted lift tickets sounds like a good idea to us.... so we'd like to introduce "Passcards" to our readers.
Passcards are multi-use discount cards, and are available for a wide variety of services - not only skiing/snowboarding! The specific discounts that are available for each card differ, but there are some great savings to be had.
At the moment, there are seven snow resorts offering the cards, but the people running the system hope for that number to increase in the near future.
