I think the wantonness of Top Gear is perfect, because after all the concept of a car is basically wanton. So in some ways you could even call the show an art statement. This is kind of the opposite of how the big oil companies now have all this eco-crap going on in the adverts, as if they are not raping the environment.

About dropping litter - this is a sign of the different values people have in UK/Japan about local community. This is one of the main things that makes Japan a better place to live (although annoying when being hassled by gomi police etc).
I dont mind the CCTV cameras etc, they just protect people like me who follow the law, and make it harder for 'The Basxxrds' who break the law, do graffiti, drop litter, mug people etc. -

Its' a good show though, I like it. Its like a magazine program, mainly entertainment with a bit of factual stuff. If you want pure techie facts then you can look in a manual or something or on the web. I used to hate Clarkson but I quite like him now, hes quite funny and the ideas they have for the show are really good.

To me I think its OK to call the girl Metalica. By the time she is 18 the band will be gone and mostly forgotten. The parents should have denied all knowledge of the band and just said they thought it up themself.
To me a name like 'Brooklyn' is worse than Metalica.
And how come 'Jesus' or 'Mohammed' is ok as a name, isn't that sacriligous?
I think this is one of those things where theres a grey line and they should avoid imposing any restrictions unless its a swear word or insult.

Used a futon for the last 5 years or so but Im finding it too hard. I like a bed with matress rated 'hard' (which is actually softer than a futon).

I reckon most flats on the 2nd floor are rented out, people prefer to live at the top (prices to buy flats go up the higher they are in the building). The two neighbours we know next to us both rent but the rest of the mansion is for owners only.

Yes I was annoyed to find my manufacturers website is really poor (just a scan of the manuals and nothing more), so no hope of firmware upgrade or anything.
I had a philips dvd recorder in the UK and they released firmware upgrades which was nice.

Looks OK. I have a divx capable dvd player, it works most of the time but has a few problems:Quote:
1) no FF/RW when running from usb (CDR is OK)
2) often crashes
3) some divx files (maybe 35% in my exp.) dont work, so you have to convert them using divx converter on your Pc, which takes time and is not free software.
4) slow bootup even when not using divx (I guess it has a mini PC inside that has to boot up) -
my wife dashed ours out this morning, seems it was all over in about 90mins from getting to hospital. they gave her no drugs or gas she said, but its seems to have gone OK.

I enjoy it so I'm happy to actually work hard and do free overtime - until some moron starts having a go at me for taking my coffee break and then I really start wanting to slack just to spite them. -

I've actually considered doing that spray painting thing several times on the politicians posters here in Japan. Always confuses me why none of the kids do that.

I'm a web developer so my job is to look at the internet. If anyone says anything I can say I am researching layouts etc. No-one has the balls to say anything anyway, at least not to my face.

Yeah I was flicking but the chelsea game was in spanish so i watched man utd mainly.
Wow they really humiliated Roma, must have been satisfying for the club after what happened over there.
I watched the Chelsea game more in the last 25 mins. They were all over them, Valencia looked poor and it was clear there were gonna lose one way or the other. I'm not happy to face Chelsea in the semis, I think they are the one team that can beat us. But its good to see 3/4 teams in the semis are english.
