  1. From the E2 (sky) website:

"For 2007-08 season, The broadcasting of the following European football leagues, Premier League, Bundes Liga (German League) is still undecided.

There will be no broadcasting for Eredivisie (Dutch League).

UEFA Champions League, Serie A (Italian League), Scottish Premier League, and Ligue 1 (French League) will be broadcasted on SKY PerfecTV! this season."

Maybe no premier league on sky this year?!?!

They should just go the whole hog and broadcast live 24/7 from a mini-cam inside Nakamura's butthole instead.

  2. Yes he got it in the jacksie bigtime. He's not resigning though, oh no. \:D

I feel sorry for him a little bit, the pension thing is hardly his fault, though I have to say the way they STILL haven't sorted it out months later is very poor indeed. Just make a damn decision.

They are all theives anyway, it doesnt matter who gets in power.

If I could vote Id go with this dude Tanaka who was Nagano governor before: http://www.love-nippon.com He seems to be anti corruption and from him its somehow believable. I met him once and he gave a speech about his political views, they were extremely philosophical I was quite taken aback. Not the usual 'lets work hard, make good schools blah blah' nonsense.

  3. To the smokers:

    1) Are you aware just how abhorrent your smoke is to non-smokers?

    2) Do you give damn?

A few weeks back I went to a kids park. It was full of toddlers - 8 yr olds. There was a sheltered bit which was full of mums enjoying the shade, breastfeeding the babies, snacking etc. Some guy turns up, sits down in the middle of everyone and starts smoking. Over half the people left and went and sat in the park, despite the harsh sun. I wondered whether he was either incredibly ignorant or incredibly selfish.

Hehe here we go. This is where it gets interesting...

I decided not to date another British girl after 3 serious relationships. For me there was too much arguing and stress. I just found with Japanese women there was none of that. My general opinion is that British women, perhaps western women as a whole, seem confused/frustrated in some way. Japanese women on the other hand seem comfortable with themselves more. Some may say Japanese women are more passive etc and this is why gaijin men like them, but I think actually Japanese women have a nice and very smart way of being passively active \:\) I mean, they know how to get their way while every stays happy, as opposed to doing it through shouting/manipulation etc. The passivity is superficial only I think.

This is how it looks to me in my very limited experience of British/Japanese women - a mere opinion, not a statement of fact.
  5. Slightly off topic but this reminds of a tv show I saw about chernoybl.

Did you know, the Russians used cloudbursting bombs after that accident to make all the radiation rain down on Belarus? They were worried the clouds may drift to Moscow. This seems to be an accepted fact, the pilots got their medals for it recently on the 20th anniversary.

  6. Maybe agents became popular because when football started to take big bucks when Sky came in, the clubs werent sharing the flavour enough with the players. But I think clearly now the players are overpaid. Its not obvious why the clubs and governing body dont get together to sort this out because surely nobody likes the agents and they are totally unnecessary.

  7. Never heard of the new winger but...hes from Ajax which can only be good. The next rijkaard/gullit/van basten/cruyff all rolled into one would be nice.

Torres...he looked good when I saw him. big price tag = pressure though. Will be interesting to see what happens. I think we need more than just those two guys though.

  8. I'm going the other way. Always loved my meat but the past few years it gives me stomach aches and I find it too much. Trying to get the proportion of meat/vege right down but its difficult with the price of veggies out of season here.

Indian Dhal is my favourite food, and its just lentils and onions \:\)

My sister is a veggie and when she came out here we could find nothing for her. She lived on combini sandwiches the whole time.

  9. I saw Michael Moores 'Sicko' last night. Not bad, but overly long (60mins would have been enough, he beat everything to death). Also being British, where we have national health service, most of the the content was nothing new to me. The most interesting stuff was how the politicians made that system in the US purely for $$$, that was quite sickening.

  10. My point was that people cant seperate idealism from realism.

The idealistic say 'war is bad'.

The realistic say 'war is bad, but it is inevitable - better to avoid being on the losing side'.

    Its like the prisoner's dilemma:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prisoners_dilemma#The_classical_prisoner.27s_dilemma

I put myself on the side of the realists, which I think is a brave thing to say because it is an unpleasant and unpopular thing to say. But in reality I think all people are realists, when push comes to shove. We are just extremely lucky and can get away with pretending to be idealists all our life.

The thought of being in a war is abhorrant to me. That is why I'm glad our soldiers are out there doing it instead of me, protecting me from being *forced* to go to war like the vietnamese etc had to. Westerners like most of us are extremely lucky people because we are not forced to go to war, however understand that this is because of the aggressive nature of our nations. To pay for our luxurious and safe way of life, common people in other countries are being killed.
