  1. Try your doctor and get an allergy test.

For years I thought I had hay fever and it turned out most of the time it was a dust allergy. If it is hay fever, they can tell you what kind of grasses to avoid (I also have medium allergy to the grass that often grows next to rice fields). I also got some decent allergy pills that dont make me drowsy.

  2. Alonso pulled him away before he got the 2nd yellow card but he kinda gave up as if he knew nothing could get Masche out of his blind rage. Gerrard did finally show up to get Masche to leave the pitch and was more forceful than the others but perhaps was a little late on the scene given that as you say anyone could see it coming from a mile off.

I agree that it looks like Fergie warned them about this and Benitez didnt.

  3. Sometimes it kinda adds to the interest, other times it is highly irritating such as when players dive and hold up the game pretending to be injured.

If Cappelo stops picking players who do it then that will also sort out at least the English players. Will be interesting to see if he goes for Gerrard or Terry as his captain, Gerrard is surely the better role model though it seems Terry is the more natural leader. I think Gerrard's England form would pick up as captain (because he would have more freedom) and that could help turn things around.

  4. This thing with badgering the ref is getting out of hand, seems like things may change with this soon. If they keep dishing the red cards then it'll soon stop, and for the better of the game.

How is it in American Football? In rugby they have their gentlemans ethics or whatever to accept the refs decisions, wonder how it is in the states. Americans usually whinge the loudest so I dread to think how it is.

  5. I always thought that and then I read a story saying that actually BMI: overweight (as opposed to BMI: normal or BMI: obese) is the healthiest one. Less chance of getting cancers etc, that was published I think on bbc news about 2 months ago.

I guess BMI: overweight people have plenty of vitamins etc to draw on Vs. skinny people. I remember my step-dad was a skinny MF and he was always getting colds and illnesses.

  6. I went to the doctor on saturday and it was a total disaster.

I was thinking it would be good to get everyone's stories together to see whether peoples experience in hospitals/doctors here is generally good or not.

    My story:

Went to the doctor to try and solve a problem with my toenail. The doctor is supposed to be the cities specialist in this. Turned up to find that the doctor is at least 80 years, possibly even 85. I sit down and he leans over into my ear and says 'do you need cream or oral medicine?'. I reply that I dont know if I need medicine or not yet. He starts babbling about different medicine he has and how many times a week it needs to be taken etc (this is all before I have explained what is wrong with me). Eventually he looks at the toe, picks up some pliers, and without washing the pliers, applying any antiseptic cream or painkiller to my toe, or even explaining what he is going to do, he starts to try and pull my toenail off!

I immediately made some excuse to leave (I am flying back to UK this evening, have to pack) and said goodbye. The receptionist then gave me an invoice for 1350yen. No apology was given for wasting my only space that week to see a doctor, wasting my morning, or taking my money for no service.

Sorry, but if that happened in the UK I would be on the phone the health service straight away to get that guy out of business. No idea how that stuff works here though, cant be assed to waste my time on it.

  7. The quality of driving instruction is important. In the UK it is very hard to get a licence now, and you are taught to be very defensive - expect the worst from pedestrians/bikes etc.

Most accidents happen from what people say is 'bad luck', wrong place wrong time. However if you are not a careful driver, it increases the likelihood you will get into such a situation. Ive been driving a fair few years and have never had an accident, but most of that was luck when I look back on it. I am still learning and so much more careful now, especially when driving slow - thats the most risky time! While parking and on narrow streets, I bet the majority of accidents happen there because it is less intuitively dangerous when compared to say a highway.

  8. We all hate the boy-racers, but they are just kids showing off. they think its cool, like a bad haircut or having your trousers hanging around your knees. I'm not sure what can be done about it apart from banning all under 30s from driving. Although, there are plenty of boy-racers in their 40s too...
