When I was a lad we had to read the 0s and 1s into t'computer with t'strain of our mouth and charge its battery wit pedal power. 18 hours it took us to get it to do a simple calculation.

Japanese are quite openly racist about Chinese I find.
The only other time I've seen such racism is in Australia where it seems to be acceptable to be racist to abbos and muslims.
As ger says, in Japan caucasians are on top of the totem pole so its mainly positive discrimination.

I'm saving a big % of my salary. I put in a UK account which gets a decent rate of interest (about 5%), however I've been studying investing lately and want to start to get into that.

When it comes to the crunch, I expect a lot of people to switch from the 'edgy' vote to a safe vote. Obama will lead in the exit polls but on the day he'll get whooped. Which is a shame cos I like Obama.

Personally I dont look at anything in the sidebar or top menu. I just look at the forum. The top posters is closest thing to being interesting there for me.
From a business point of view I totally understand and agree with having the big links to the main site scattered around (header, side and footer!) though.

Vista needs 2GB of RAM to run so that would explain the slow speed. From what I can see, its not worth up-speccing your machine just to get some eye-candy though. XP gets the job done and all your peripherals work on it.
M$ always talk about how Vista is more 'secure' without actually explaining why, which I found a bit irritating.

Yeh I also went for XP when I got my laptop about 6 weeks ago. There will be a new windows OS in 2010.

Google Gears is not yet ready for FF3. I've being using Google Docs instead of MS Office but I guess it'll soon be available.

Just remembered - some sites dont work with FF3 by the way. slide.com for example. It will be a while before developers get around to testing the sites in FF3 (especially as its not officially released yet). Obviously simple sites are OK, but ones with lots of javascript (ironically what FF3 is designed to be better for) may not work.

I use FF3 on my home desktop. Its very stable and very fast. Has some nice new features too. I cant use it at work or on my laptop because I need the rikaichan addon too much. Once that gets released for FF3 im switching over.

I agree with soubs, put the browser screen res at 800pix width and you get a lot of whitespace. A lot of people with old small monitors will have that problem.

Mamabear - agree with you on that. You will never be ready for kids as I said. I had my first at 28, at that point I had done everything I wanted in terms of partying and travelling and the timing was good for me. Maybe other people love partying so much they want to do it until 35 but that wasn't my mind set and I started the next phase of my life instead of clinging to my teenage/uni years.
