I never heard about that in my 3 years as a Nagano AET. They must have been kick ass AETs. Doesnt the BOE pay for everything AET-related anyway? Cant imagine why the town would suddenly stump up 10man for this.

I don't say it is effective against corruption, just that I imagine that is the intention behind it. In public service there seems to be many of these kinds of barriers/rules set up.

they can try to appeal to hardcore gamers, and indeed many hardcore gamers bought the wii as a 2nd console, but i think their core market is different to ps3/xbox and that is a wise move on their part. i think they should move more into educational tools/games rather than regular gaming.

Hmm, when I was on a spouse visa twice I just handed in my gaijin card at the airport and came back and applied for a new gaijin card. no reentry permit, no new visa application.
Now i am on a PR visa, maybe it would be different.

i am not sure that nintendo are really a rival of xbox/ps anymore since gamecube. its a different market they are targetting i think.

Why do you need reentry permit to come into Japan? You can just come in on a tourist visa (or spouse visa etc) and then get a new gaijin card.
My understanding is you only need reentry permit to stop them taking your gaijin card off you when you leave japan.

Not really fair on people who were already economising on electricity proactively. Fairer would be to set a target based on the size of the home in M2 or number of dwellers.

My desktop is always empty.
"OMG HOW???" I hear you cry. Well:
- For quick access to my favourite folders, I use the Quick Launch bar
- For quick access to my favourite applications, I use the Quick Launch bar
- My Docs/downloads for all temporary internet files (excels etc that you download)
- My Docs/TEMP for all files that I think I probably will not need for long
- Every 2 years or so, drag the entire "My Documents" into a new folder called "archive-2010-06" and make a new My Documents. If there are any files in the old one that you need and use often, just drag them into the new My Documents.
- On PC upgrade, burn everything to DVD or external HDD and dont bother putting the "archive" folders onto the new HDD

Last time I came back to Japan (I think it was early April this year), there was no rentry permit line! This was at Kansai KIX. Don't know if this has been applied to all Japan airports, can anyone confirm?

Hehe now I see it. I have a very strong BS filter when it comes to the web, pretty much everything on the forum index page apart from the forum threads is like a blur to me.
