I remember eating in this huge restaurant in Paris, and the waiters were taking our meals away before wo had even finished them, and rudely telling us to get out before we could drink our wine.
We weren't being noisy or anything, they were just busy and wanted to speed up the turnover.

Paypal is just an internet banking thingy. If a company accepts paypal, you can pay them with a credit card or bank transfer via Paypal. Paypal take a commission. Its basically a way for small businesses to accept a wide variety of payment methods without having the hassle of setting it up through VISA etc. Its really simple to get a paypal account.
I have some money spare in my paypal account, and I'd prefer to spend it directly on something (a snowboard) than withdrawing it to my japanese bank account and paying fees on it, getting ripped off with a bad exchange rate etc.
A lot of US stores accept Paypal but shipping is too expensive from there.

Paypal is an internet payment method, its really popular in the US and on eBay etc.

That guy is a dick though, he looked a fool demanding so much wages from leeds and then liverpool, only to have both of them rejct his demands :-) he had to crawl back to leeds and take a wage cut :-)

Ami Suzuki was popular about 4 years ago, then she kinda slunk away. Something happened but I forget what it was now. Then, in 2000 she brought out the Fun For Fan album. After that nothing.
I think she's been dropped by the label.
Its a shame cos she was fit.

I can't believe no-one here has mentioned M-Flo, Dragon Ash or The Yellow Monkey. i suppose they are more j-rap, j-rap and j-rock respectively.
the yellow monkey kick ass. Also, X-Japan have a great track called 'desperate angel' they rule also.

Liverpool FC were experimenting with online webcasts two years ago. It doesnt look like its gonna happen this season, but hopefully next year I will just be able to subscribe to liverpools website and watch all the matches through there. you can plug your computer into your telly and watch games like normal.

wowow is a tv channel. it shows the champions league live (at 3AM). to get it you need a BS dish and a tuner. tuners can be bought seperate or you can get a TV or video that has the tuner built in. this is sometime cheaper than buying a dedicated tuner! i think you are supposed to pay a subscription to, but it is like NHK and you can get away without paying.
If you get a CS tuner and dish you can get Sky Perfect, which is a large group of channels including fox, mtv, bbcworld, and sports channels. Sky shows premiership football live, italian legue, france league, spanish league etc. also the FA Cup and Worthington cup. You can get a CS dish and tuner for about 12000yen, but most cost about 20000yen. then you pay about 5000yen a month for subscription to soccer channels, mtv etc.

Total Annihilation is a cracking PC game but its really old now. must be 5 years old. you can still play it on msn zone though.

i prefer a 'nighta' to day ride, cos its cooler and i dont seem to get as hot and sticky. plus its usually quieter, and I love driving out after work to the slopes with the stereo on. then coming back real late still in my gear and getting a can of coffee or cocoa from 7-11, then maybe an onsen pitstop.

We dont have to do that crap in my school (I'd miss it anyway as I always show up late).
I have noticed however that in the local Kappa Sushi (100yen dire family sushi place) the staff all line up in the morning and do stuff like bowing to the empty room etc.
They look like serious freaky psychos.

my g/f loves sushi so we eat at 100yen keiten sushi places maybe 3 times a week. i eat out for lunch 3 times a week. So maybe I eat out about 70% of the time?
Its where all my money goes.

Let's be more specific.
I don't think JET is an all round bad thing. For starters, JET is good for JET's. Moneys good, lots of free time, general carnival atmosphere.
As for the students, its hard to tell whether it is good or not for them. I imagine that it enables them to learn better English than it would if they didnt have a JET there teaching them. Of course, it could better managed if the goal was to soley to teach English well. But, that is not the only goal of the program. The beauty of the program is that each JET, to an extent, can participate as much or as little as they like in school and extra curricular life. So, the program has a 'looseness' otherwise rarely seen in Japan.
