  1. Harifu, Higashiyama and Annupuri are accessable on the Niseko free passport ticket system. From the top single "parrott" chair at Harifu , you can ski to the right to access both Higashiyama and Annupuri lifts. There is also the free shuttle bus system all day if you don`t want the ride the lifts.

Considering the Harifu ticket is 4600Y and a NFP ticket is 4900Y, the NFP ticket is the way to go. eek.gif

  2. Yeah Twiki, I have loved riding the 181Sm. I been riding it for a few years now , mainly in Harifu. Riding anything smaller seems quite difficult to do now but I`m not concerned when someone tells me the SM is too big for me. I`m 183cm tall and the board is 181cms. I`ve got so used to riding it now, I take it everwhere, but Japan pow is the way to go.

  4. I`m not really a fashion type boarder that buys new gear every season. Currently I ride a Burton Supermodel 181 and this season I`ve also got a Burton BMC 168 which I bought specifically so I could re-teach myself riding switch/fakie. I tried a bit of switch on the 181 but it was too difficult to swing around. I`ve heard the BMC are pretty light in weight and being Burtons latest material compositions , it should be a bit of fun. As for riding Niseko tree runs, the 181 has been the best. Very good for landing jumps of any size, well with having all that contact area you could see why. In groomed snow it was excellent as well the contact edge is long , so holding a rail in hard snow was the next best thing to my other race board. A buddy of mine , Zeke Steggel gave me a signature 175 race board to use in Australia, a little hard to use coming off softboot board but fun for speed.

I like my Burton stepins, their simple, much faster than the straps giving more time in the pow. Goggle wise I use Oakley A-frames. I`ve had the icing up feature on the inside and outside of the lens, and it only happens in extreme temps of Niseko. Never had any ice-up in Aust just in Japan, although this year I`ve found these little shammy cloth goggle clearers, so I`m hoping these will do the trick.

Thats the only problem I have in Japan, the bloodly ice-up goggle problem.. If I can get this fixed then I`ll really be laughing.

Anyone else had the ice-up feature?

  5. I`ve been wearing OR Outdoor Research mitts for 8 seasons now and they come with a mitt liner. Using these Mitts in Niseko last year, I took my hand out to hold the video camera. The weather conditions at the time were sunny but a howling wind at the top summit next to the smoko hut all but froze my hand. Later that day I was told the wind-chill factor was about - 70 degrees. That was the coldest my bare hand has experienced. Anyway it would have been better and alittle warmer if I had some glove liners [just a thin fleece] inside the mitt liner, inside the OR mitt. I needed some sort of windchill protector for my hands when filming.

If it is a Japanese trend for liners inside liners inside a mitt then I`ll go for it aswell. smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

  6. "oh and what is this "peeps" shit"

Sounds like a shithouse name just like your shithouse comments.

Chris I think Niseko is between the two red dots on shoe shaped part of land on the forecast map. It can be alittle hard to find.

dad i think I can hear your boyfriend calling.

    Get off his case.

Its a simple question and all it needed was a good answer not tell us your personal trouble.

  7. I think if I decide to ride duck foot 9+ - 9- it will make me position myself more square and have my weight centered to the board which will be a good thing. Taking it easy and not rushing turns will be the challenge especially with Powder-crazed on the slope riding powpow all day. Practice and committment , concentration. Will it happen. It wont happen over night, but it will happen. Concentrating will be hard, thinking of pow all day. A good zone to practice will be the top parrott single chair at Niseko. A good slope, soft pow to fall over in, and there will be falls , groomed but steeper than front valley.Hope all goes well. tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

  8. And where did you get that piece of information. Chris , you haven`t been studying those forecast links too hard have you, reading between the lines hoping for something huge. We can all tell how much you want it to dump but don`t be suprised if it don`t come out as planned. Myself, I think it will come down sometime this week, considering there is snow forecast for everyday this week. http://www.npg.ne.jp/html/

Check this link for hourly snow review. When I posted this link the cam` sort of showed an intense blizzard in town.

  9. Boys,7-11 and chris look further than what in your eyes. Next week forcast Sunday - snow, Monday - snow, Tuesday _ snow. And on it goes. The snow will come, and then you`ll be saying "please stop snowing so I can see the sun.

Last season, our two week holiday at Niseko , in 14 days the sun came out for no more than 5 hours and that was on the very last day, also when we did most of the filming of UTOPIA the Snowave vid`. Its early season now, come mid December there will be a 3 mtre base and powpow upto your armpit at - 25degrees at lunch time. smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

  10. Ahhhh, they thought snowboarding was just a fad, they thought it would pass by like fashions do. How wrong they were and still are.

"and if you just watch some of the ski movies

out there today, you will see that new school

skiing is as sick (if not more) as anything

    in the snowboard world."

Now look at them , trying to be as cool as snowboarders.

"The new school skiing is as sic` as the snowboard world", who are they trying to fool.

Skiis should be melted down and made into something useful like a chair lift or something.

Yep , I skiied for 16 years, took up snowboarding 9 years ago, purchased 5 snowboards and never looked back to skiing.

Took all ski related accessories down to cash converters and they didn`t want it either.

Who wants to be a skiier? Not me.

    Return flame starts now!!!Anyone.

  11. Hey chris, you can buy beer and almost anything you want from vending machines. Every street has them. You can buy beer in one liter cans and buy the carton. Although I don`t think 24 cans of 1 ltr will fit a case. Although the crew I was with last season drank almost 200 cans of beer in the two weeks we were there. You can buy a 750ml Vodka for about $A10 /600Y. Most of the snack type food you will buy will come from Seiko Mart across the road from PowPow Cafe`.

If you want to smoke then watch out for the Jap Marfia, they will hunt you down and slaughter you, they`re real bad news, then you`ll never be able to go home.

If you`ve got the energy for a smoke after 10 hours snowboarding everyday and the 2 hours in the Onsen then go ahead, but most of us will be going straight to bed.

He who sleeps in always misses the steep and deep first run of the day on Alpen 1 super coarse, and once you`ve missed that then trying to find your buddies for the rest of the day will be impossible.

Freshies or headaches. Freshies or headaches.
