They say a picture is worth a thousand words but for a man with Oceans penmanship ability and receding hairline welll hmmmmm
I guess every rule has an exception!
-
I must say Im dissapointed ocean.
Its not like you to be taken in by one that obvious.
Oh well nobobys perfect huh!!
-
Its not the snow that makes the season. Its what you do on it.
People who whine about snow are lame.
-
Yeah Ocean you use a keyboard. Just like a computer.

Im posting this message from my PS2. Plays DVD too!

Actually I dig the free ski thing but taliskier was obviously looking for a bit of confrontation and I didnt want to disappoint.
The skier vs snowboarder thing is definately getting a bit old,
-
I guess your talking about the 120m hill ect.
I think its something to do with the suits. No self respecting boarder would wear something that ridiculous.
By the way, Why dont skiers do any interesting tricks?

Ive got to say it really got up my nose when the americans brought out "the flag". 20,000 or so indians died in an earthquake over there last year but they dont get a special mention. Im sure there would be plenty of examples of tradgedy and grief from many of the countries taking part.
After that unbelievable insult to the Olympic movement I turn on the T.V yesterday and see the American Bobsleigh team in a sled with a giant "U.S. ARMY" sign on it. Please tell me they're not planning to race that thing in the Olynpic contest.
The U.S has totally lost the plot when it comes to the Olympic spirit!

Actually the term fat lip can also be applied to other sports. I hear they get quite a few in boxing due to the high amount of scrapping involved

So I guess you must really hate the X games blazer?

Both the snowboarding halfpipe events were great.
The womens comp was unbelievable, fantastic to see how far girls are pushing it these days. I loved it when the Japanese girl came back and stomped the big flip in the second run after getting a fat lip trying it the first time.
As for the sweep in the mens, Whats the big deal?
Austrians do it in skiing all the time and what about
the Aussie swimmers. They often clean up.
Any sport with judges is going to be open to debate
but all those guys in the top 6 rocked big time.

Yeah..... And wear a backpack with a probe, shovel, 2 roast turkeys, a houshold iron, 3 bags of rice and a can of beans. All that weight will flatten em right down!!
-
Try aiming for your edges to contact with the down slope side of the mogul instead of the uphill side like skiers do.
Also like Barok says dont try to turn on every mogul ,ride across the mogul field keeping your legs super rubberry shockabsorbery. As you get better you can start going straighter down the hill.
Or you could just avoid moguls alltogether (recommended)

why so late!!
And on a snowboarding night too !!!!
Shame on you!!

Where do you draw the line between "real backcountry" and
a little "rope ducking"?
You have to be prepared for real backcountry but anyone can duck the rope right?
I mean they only put up ropes to stop you from having fun . Just ask any expert rope ducker.
Rope ducker: What happens if they see me?
vs
real backcountry rider: What if they dont see me, how will I react to unexpected injury or event.
I bet there are a lot more problems with rope ducking.
If you really dont expect the ski patrol to come get you when you stuff up then act like it.
If people had more respect for their ass than their pass the ski patrol would probably be a little more relaxed.

Cheers Ben.
Thanks for the info.
Im sure we will hear more on this. I hope people pay attention to the situation and realise that we all need to prove that we can ride responsibly or we will lose out big time in the long run. Riding like an idiot and then claiming you cant speak Japanese is not a good way to earn respect!

I was up at Niseko last week and noticed a poster about
backcountry rules. It was all in japanese but I noticed it mentioned beacons.
Anyone know about this?
Will a beacon rule be enforced for the summit run ect.?
I personally think its a great idea. The no friends on a
powder day, duck the rope and charge the fresh attitude that a lot of clowns seem to live by can be dangerous.
Just because an area is close to a resort doesnt mean its safe. Just look a the gully between hirafu and Higashiyama.
Every year there seems to be stories about some captain baka who went for a walk with no gear no map and no brain and got into trouble.
Riding backcountry powder is cool but do yourself and your friends a favour and ride safe.

The three hole thing is ridiculous.
-
Snow bunny type chicks with long swishy hair look cool going down moguls (boink boink boink....). I also love that side to side wiggle jump thing the pro mogul chicks do off the jump thats halfway down the course (wiggle wiggle...) Yeah mogul chicks

Nothing to do with snow but interesting stuff.
What exactly is an "expletive" ?
The answer to this question differs depending on who you
are and what culture or subculture you identify with.
One persons expletive may be a normal and accepted part of another persons communicative style.
Censorship involves a party holding some kind of power (in this case the site adminisrator) making moral judgements
about the acceptibility or otherwise of various forms of expression.
I personally believe that this is quite wrong. If you are offended by certain words it is better to simply accept that your communicative style is different, ignore it and move on.
I tend to agree with Mr Bob that there is probably some commercial concerns involved and that is understandable.
The adminstrators claimed that the "majority of readers don't want expletives" Do you have data to back that claim?
I personally thought "clown" was quite amusing so
I'll start the poll off by saying I dont really care
what people write, if I dont like it I'll say so myself
or ignore it.

Heaps of snow in Hokkaido.
Ive had to dig the house out twice today already.

O.K Mr pow pow
Take a couple of breaths and relax.
Ocean11 was referring to "pow pow wanks" and "pow pow concern" not to you the one and only true "pow pow". I know its hot in Aus right now and you are probably a bit irritable but you're barking up the wrong tree!
Have you tried sticking your head in the freezer, it really helps me when there's no snow!

A little story about companies.
The other day I was applying a bit of B.O. buster to the underarms when the whole ****in stick fell out of hte container and went all over the place.
Why?
Simple, you know the little plastic windy screwy thing that goes up the middle. Some genius decided to get rid of it. I wonder why they did that, to save money!!!
Hows that for getting screwed by screw scrooges
Id rather fashion my own board out of a log than pay a company but I doubt I could make it work properly.
health plan that covers snowboarding injuries ?
in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry

Yep Ive got one.
You can get a policy to cover just snowboarding.
I had to get one to enter a japan snowboard association event.
Just go to a snowboard shop thats hooked up with the JSBA and they can fix you up with a policy in the shop, it takes about five minutes and costs about 3000yen.
