  1. An open Apoligy to Tubby and Pie

I have no excuse for singling you both out and attacking you both in the the way I did. I should have be mature and wise instead of rude with my very poor attitude. But, but there is no but or if was totally wrong and rude for my personal attack on you both and disrespectful of the forum

I sinsenerly apologise and can totally understand if you do not accept. I was wrong Biggen

  2. I just realised that Ozzie day is day after Burns Day in Scotland.......Sláinte!!

No it is not Ozzie day it is Australia Day and Mr Adam Goodes is not the Ozzie of the year, Mr Adam Goodes is Australian of the Year. Yet another inept cultural insensitive comment. HIstory show that you Scotts and Britishs are tainted with Millenniums of ingrained social class discrimination. You and Pie are classic example of that with your cyber bulling which you both display when both feel the need to make yourselves feel superior. This comment is yet another insult to a people of indigious status. Your incentitvety have insulted the aboriginal races of both Japan and Australia on this forum. Both of you are pathetic racist. Both of you are a disgrace to your children's indigious ancestry and the children of Mr Adam Goodes. Do not use the old cleche that I have miss-intrepid these off the cuff remarks. I am not the only one who have obverse this trait. It is a display of Dogmatic overtones of pure racism. How shameful you both are as parent of your children and of your country of origin. You both can knock and make fun my spelling which is away a point you both make me aware off. But I will not stand by and not defend the right to equity against your ever continuing racisim. You both need to be is censed and apologise issue.

    How to respond to that?!

    :veryshocked:

I won't use any old cheches, that's for sure, John-San.

Just out of interest though, could you perhaps pinpoint one example of my 'continuing pure racism'?

    I am genuinely curious.

1:The term "raving" homosexual is attempt at demonising a sector of people because of sexual preference

2: commenting on a sensitive issues to indigious people for a laugh is a sick attempt at degrading people in a topic which does not concern you. A helpful comment would be appropriate yes then comment . but it was not!!

3: It is obvious that you did not listen to Mr Goodes Speech or you would of realise how sensitive this issue is to the indigious people of Australia. There is three examples.

I could use the term stinking foreigner towards you which is a scientific fact not a racist term due to the bacitiea which you harbour on your body that feed on the secretion from the Apocrine glans, giving of body odour. In 99% of Japanese these glans have receded. But I don,t and what the funk is John-san. Is it another poor attempt in gaining a laugh!

  3. Hate is hate. Hate begets hate.

Don't condone any of it - in either direction.

Personally, I'll be spending Australia Day with a large group through our sporting club.

Kids from the other side of Australia that have been living with us for a week, fierce adversaries who have found common ground and trained together as mates with our kids. Multiple nationalities, multiple skin colours, multiple accents - every one of them delighted to be here and be spending time in this group.

Yep, there are national disgraces, but. I am choosing to celebrate MY Australia today.

Friends who are more like family. My Spanish son who is so thankful to be here with us, my Russian friends celebrating their Australian nationality, my mother in law and her Noongar partner....

I am celebrating the family and friends that I love and are here today, and I'll be remembering my beautiful god daughter whose ashes have just arrived back in Australia today, who loved the fireworks, and isn't with us this year.

Spending your life hating, judging and pointing the accusatory finger is great if that is what floats your boat. But it doesn't bring about change. Loving, forgiving, shining a light of happiness and joy in a world often devoid of it is a much better option IMHO and one I will choose to take.

So Happy Australia Day to those who choose to live here.

Happy Australia Day to those overseas who have fond memories of their time here.

And have a wonderful day to those who don't and haven't ....May your day be filled with joy and happiness.

Adam Goodes Australian of the Year acceptance Speech

    http://youtu.be/3EV-cLb_Ttg

We are ALL guilty of ignorance and this is what this speech is about. Stoping it !!! Notice that Mr Goodes did not mention the fact that he was a proud Australian but a Proud Indigious member of this land!!

  4. http://www.netplaces...eone-offers.htm

I've never seen this custom in 11 years of living and going to onsens in Japan

    http://www.netplaces...eone-offers.htm

Education is a wonderful. I suggest your in need of it come to commenting on Japan. 11 years you say! Are you a ignorant person and inept to the locals, there customs and feeling? Or is it that you can take the boy out of the United Kingdom but can not take United kingdom out of the boy? That was such a foolish remark to issue on a Japanese/English public forum. If you do not agree with information on this public forum I suggest some research on a reputable search engine like Google! Surely you have heard of this site.I Think not by the attitude you have display about this subject.

  5. Sorry recap - is this actually a custom?

I've never heard of it and been to a fair few onsen with friends.

Are you sure we're talking humans, not monkeys?

Yes it is a culture custom @Tokyo, mostly pertenting to Shudan (groups). In Japanese society, group consciousness is learnt from an early age in the Family, which is the most important primary group for individual. The family provides the context in which socialisation takes place, as well as patterns of interaction that applied in other secondary Shudan (groups) such as neighbourhood cliques, clubs and shudan in the workplace. these Shudan are treated like a secondary families.

This is why when a local offer to wash my back, I take it, that they high respect me and see that i am worthy of being part of their secondary family and that the local or locals consider me as a very very close friend. There is a big difference between being class as an acquaintance to being part off friendships in the Japanese society. You would not pick up on your mannerisms toward the locals that they would deem as a individual lacking insight toward their culture. The local are not going to take you aside and tell you of your sort coming toward Japanese culture. EG your referral to the back washing custom as a act only Monkeys participate in. These people who you accompany to the Onsens with, are only being Japanese and that is being polite. You know yourself that you have not gone out of you way to deeply understand the culture and until you do, you will always will be treated as a acquaintance. @Tokyo I am not having a go at you, just telling you how it is in Japanese culture

Shudan has a - on top of the u

  6. I said the locals because it an act of camaraderie. If ask by a around eye to wash his back I probably would also as a act of camaraderie but the chances are the eyed round is gay with a dirty back. I think gay people respect the culture of the Onsen and not go around hit up a follow user. If I was at the karaoke bar I would decline if ask to wash another mens back. And yes I do enjoy the act. I take it as a sign of acceptance by the locals. and this make me happy.

  7. When filling the window washer in your rental, make sure you don,t use water!!!. ask the attendant for the proper gear.

Last season a friend borrowed my car and fill it up with water thinking that he was doing the right thing. Big mistake. When I went to use the washers it smeared the window with ice blocking my view. i could not see a thing! like hitting a white out!!

  8. Two season back I was boarding at Cortina. After lunch I walked out to the lifts for another few more rides. Blairing over the PA system was Witney Useless song "I will always love you". The resort had been pumping out this sort of sound pollution all morning. This was really getting annoying. I turn to the American skier in the lift line with me and remarked, "I wish this b%$#H would just roll over and die. The Skier started to piss himself laughing. I through myself that it was not that funny. When the American gain control of himself. He reply back to me that 'she is she die yesterday and start to laugh again. To which I had no knowledge that she actually did!

  9. Its not so good to reheat. The heater is used to keep the bath water heated at the desired temp for the whole family nightly bath. I prefer the Onsen due to the male camaraderie when traveling alone. When I first started to used the local Onsens a man offered to wash my back. I excepted and wash his back as well. I realise that this is a common practice. It promoted conversation and friendship. If I travel with my girlfriend we always book a room with a Onsen or hotel were you can both used a private Onsen. There no better way of relaxing while your girlfriend of wife washes you and you in turn wash them prior to entering the Onsen.

  10. THe majority of these so call stolen equipment are miss place or mistaken to be their,s by other follow westerner. Just that people assume the it stolen. We had a guest who said that Y500,000.00 was stolen from his room only to find out 3 weeks latter that it was misplace. Westerner assume If the item missing, it stolen, only to find out that own stupidity of miss place the item. I have alway told guests rarely to does stuff get stoten in Japan more the case of miss placing.

  11. To give my comment more credentials, I was approach by two Jouno,s at different places and different days. The first Jouno was from SBS TV while I was at Escal Plaza and other from 4ch at a restrurant "Kickonkon" last season. Both ask my response about Australian behaviour in Hakuba not Brit not American but Australian. I told them my point of view "THAT WAS ONLY A FEW" that behave badly, then I ask why just Australian why no other foreigners to the 4ch reporter. The reply was "all the complaint were concerning Australian". Why did they appoarch me, I have no idea. The fact is they did and that they both ask about Australian behaviour .

  12. Can of worms

Resorts with more thefts are likely to also be those with higher foreigner numbers.....but that's not to say that it doesn't happen at other resorts and perpetrated by Japanese

Mama, I disagree with u saying there is more new gear at N and this is a factor......same amount of new gear at other resorts too and very very rare to hear about thefts.....but again it DOES happen.

Biggen, to say that it's ONLY Aussies who drink to get drunk etc......that's bullshit. I've seen plenty of obnoxiously drunk Japanese.....respect is a 2 way street, if locals don't respect tourists then it's hard to see why tourists would respect locals.

That said Ive always tried to treat other people the way I wasn't other people to treat me

What i was implying is Aussie get the blame because of a few. Not that it is only aussie. I am not targeting Aussie. Just stating fact Tubby. It the same in Bali .Aussie any beat up the local blame the Aussie. The same in NZ. THe same in Thailand. Aussie have a bad reputation because of a few. A very small precent but mud stick. If You have a Aussie accent it taken for granted that you drink. Not all aussie drink or behave obnoxiously but all are band as. I stating a fact. If your upset by the fact I sorry, But like I said mud sticks

  13. Aussie in Japan snow areas are like Rangers, they stick out like soar thumb and not not because they have round eyes. They are obnoxious, natiionist, never considering the local community feelings or laws. 1: skiing on roads and car park because there is on sign saying not to do so or they are told by the Aussie owners of the hotel where they are staying that it ski in ski out ( written in the Advertising ) which is a blatant snub to the local community protocols. 2: refusing to obey resort rule by riding in restricted areas. 3:Being obnoxiously load when going home from a night out on the piss. It is a huge problem to the local communities, because why would I be ask to be interviewed by Mina Misawa from SBC TV about the outrageous action and attitudes by Aussies Tourists (not any other nationality) . Because the local are total piss off with the Aussies. Their not going to go to the Murdock press to air there grievance. Mamabear you do not see this because your not part the community and don,t watch or read the local Japanese news or newspapers. This is not prejudiced but hard facts. There is a big different between social drinking and drinking to get drunk. It only a few Aussie that are guilty of this behaviour but they are all tar with the same brush in the local eyes. I apologise to any Aussie who do right thing if offended by these fact but this is how the locals are feeling about Australian nationals.

  14. Yo mate. You being Japanese, wouldn't you be more friendly to the environment and turn your engine off when you're out of your car? Or do you have lots of money and like to waste petrol while spewing gunk to annoy everyone.

Please post your number plate and where you frequently do your shopping and if I'm in the area, I'll help out and turn off your engine and store your keys in the nearest gutter.

In North America most new cars can be started from inside your home. Why would you. In serve cold condition doors looks freeze or the doors are frozen to the door-jam a lot of the time. Other reason is to allow the coolant to warm up. If you start car and driving off, there a high chance of it over heating and blowing a head gasket before the temp gage shows the real temp. it because the sender is still fozen and or still really cold. please remember I am talking temp of -10 and lower. Also the theory of it bing more expense in fuel cost is wrong. I have it from mechanic that is more expensive to start your car then letting it idle for 5 minutes. I will avocate that leaving it running while in the shop is not be being green friendly. Most often I am in the shop for more then 5 minutes so I take your advice Winter Vacation and turn car off in the future while doing my shopping.

  15. Thanks for the advice guys.

I managed to find a Nissan rent a car with 4WD and snow tires. I'll probably be super slow on around the Hakuba area.

If you see 7 Aussie-Asian stuck on the side of the road, give us a wave. It's probably me.

Biggen: I'll be around Hakuba between the 8th-14th of Feb?

HI Dimsum8six so your traveling with 7 mates. Are all of you keen on first track? Is that the reason behind hiring a car? I might be able to help with advice that will happen often to crews. What I will tell you will occur. Your group should discuss the subject of being ready to go in the morning so you can grab first lines. Decide on a time to be ready at the car with all your gear that includes cash for the day lifts passes. You will come across moment like they were late making breakfast . THat why I am late !. I had a big night! I have to stop at 7/11 to get cash or a memory card or any thing which should obtain the night before. Can we go back I forgot my gloves. Believe me I have won plenty of money on bet with crew. I bet them that they will not be ready to go by 8.00am. That someone will away drag the chain. To avoid tension in the crew be strict on the time on being ready to go and stick to it . I suggest appoint a leader who is the most reliable and make him in charge of the check list. 10 minutes before the departing time, go over your check list. If any of the above does happen you will be ready to leave on the time arrange and be strict on the not stopping at the 7/11 in the morning. Make a thing about shop at 7/11 on the way home. I know is info will help and avoid tension within the crew. But all of you have to be strict on this subject or you will aways miss out on grabing first lines.
