Onigiri, Snickers and mixed nuts in the pockets/pack for me.
No time to stop and dine with the gapers when the shred is on!

Nope. Other than a long radius board generally being wider in the middle so therefore more surface area for a given length=floaty float float.
Goz From previous threads I get the feeling you like longer boards for the more surface area/ more float. Do you ever go shorter / wider for the same effect? pros/cons with respect to riding pow?
Pretty sure the quest is to tailor boards to get the best riding experience on Hokkaido Powder days. Is the 164 going to be wider?

The junky must be getting ichty feet. Gotta be close now.

Sounds like Rucky has the makings of a definite quiver...
How many boards have you got now RI?
Oh..And the Summit was sold in a split as well as standard - seems to me the perfect board for it!
My trusty 156 Allian Backman
plus new/ secondhand additions of
165 NS Summit
160 Fish (now est - cant be split)
162 Malolo (est)
No more till decisions are made, don't know which ones to carry
(that I enjoy the most as haven't ridden any yet - but pretty sure the fish has a spot)
although will sneak one into wifes board bag. Will probably have to suck it up and
carry all.
Hmmmm! Maybe one more, smaller softer flex reverse camber fun board for chits and giggles
-
Split the altered genetics and use it when you come BC camping with me in september! Its dead weight in your bag on a flight to japan.
Thats exactly what the fella from the split fest said about the NS summit I just brought

What kind of dog is the one on the left?
My 8 week old border collie.
Had to look for a pic. Stop looking. He is a very handsome boy (the puppy, that is)
And I am not bias!

This year because of the limited terrain open I have steered clear of hotham. Any resort that has bottlenecks for lifts are no fun.
Falls has been good although the terrain is not all that challenging. Some really beautiful sections through trees at falls, plus their lift system does not bottle everyone into one place.
Up at falls for the next two weekends, then hotham mid August. Hopefully by them they have the orchard open which frees up a lot of the congestion.
Did Falls ever open up the terrain - I think its mt mckay, skiers left of the ruins looking up the hill- heard rumours years ago?

Just ordered my Birdman 160 it will be intersting to see what the end cost will be including shipping and any GST
Well done. The cost, whatever it is, will be forgotten as soon as you point that thing into a powder stash!
I reckon your a bit of an ideas man seemore and are good at sniffing out a bargain.
But will be interested to hear cost. I was put off by freight /taxes/ my uncertaintity with some
aspects of freight forwarding so haven't gone down that path for buying a board yet.

Have you honestly found the ESTs to be that good?Back on topic - Looking at a good 2nd hand fish this afternoon, though.
What Fish are you checking out? How much the seller asking?
It was the last model before the est and I paid $250. Some SJr's may say that is a lot for an older -
2nd hand board but it was in perfect nick ( ridden 5 times ) and the seller helped heaps with delivery
so I didn't mind paying a good price for a pre loved board. Still a bargain compared to mark ups on new one.
Curiously, I placed it against the 162 est Malolo just purchased and by eye, couldn't see any difference in
the side cut profile but did notice difference in weight. The fish feels more solid / heavier. It will be interesting
to ride and compare. I got the 160 fish
And if I'm impressed then I will have to hunt down an est system fish so I don't have to carry around two sets of bindings.
Are you still searching Neck or did you make a deal with PaulG?
We have just made the move away from the ESTs with the last 3 boards purchases.
My 3 youngest were on 2 different length Joysticks and a Custom, but they have just demo-ed some boards before purchasing (all Never Summer) an Evo, a Cobra and a Raptor. They demo-ed boards from a number of makers before settling ALL on the NS boards. Their only MUST when demo-ing was they MUST NOT have EST. All 3 have had a gutful of them for varying reasons and to varying extremes.
(Sorry not strictly Powder Board talk - although the Cobra and Raptor will go well in POW I reckon).
Hey mb
I've never used the est's before but from what you and others are saying I may not like - I have yet to try them out. However the idea of being easier/ quicker to adjust binding position / swap bindings to other boards (although the supposed benefit of feeling the snow better would only be recognised by other est boards) is appealing if carrying a quiver but if they dont work so good then I may take the other road and off load the malolo and the est bindings and stick to the extra bolts and base plates.

After a big week at work - relaxed and watch a few dvd's on the we.
Watch Django - after earlier reviews here
The Hobbit
Jack Reacher - have read a few of the books, although not the one this movie was based on. Enjoyed the movie but find it
amusing that in the books, Jack Reacher stands at about 6" 5' or thereabouts and he is played by Tom Cruise.
but imo he did a good job.

Ironically, that IS down Victoria way.... Rucky.... thought you'd like to hear we have new 8 week old Border. He's a good looking boy!
Yeah! Have been keeping an eye out for the photos and names like other SJr's.
You won't regret getting a border but I've got two so I am just a little bias.
-
Have you considered making your own table?

My mouth is watering. Those fish would be very tasty coming from the clean Canadian waters.
Down Victoria way , flake (gummy shark) is the staple battered fish when ordering fish 'n' chips.
Nothing better than timing a fresh catch off the boats out of San Remo. Very nice tasting fish.

Comms - Communication.
Think I read in a previous thread somewhere that you might be looking into the above subject.
And was curious to see what you decided to go with if you did. From other previous threads I
know there are issues with what can be used and what can't in Japan and also the costs involved.

Oh hahaha!
You bought the right shoes anyway, You should come to splitfest and try out splitting.
To be honest I haven't been to the Aussie snow fields for years but am keen to try out gear.
I'II look into it (again tbh first I've heard of it) or do you have some details/ link. Sounds like fun
and just the motivation to get me off my ass and down to the Aussie snowfields .

I listened to seemorenomics and did ok.
Prob should have paid trip off sooner but all done weeks ago as dollar slid but
got spending money at parity, so could have been better but not too bad.
See you there
