Thanks for the replies guys. I'll look into bus companies I guess, since I am not driving, and it seems easier than the trains.
I am planning a couple of bus trips this year from Kansai area. The night bus tours are the best value for money in my opinion. From Kansai we don't have so many cheap shinkansen deals. Hopefully that will change when the new hokuriku line opens. My trips are all from a pamphlet froma travel agent. You can find some great deals if you don't mind traveling on a cramp night bus.

Dynaland and Takasu should be good for accumulated snow. Not sure there current levels but today would have been good today if you were willing to hike it. Unfortunately Im working next weekend on the 7th but planning on heading up on the 8th or 15th if the weather is good. Im always looking for people to share the tolls/fuel costs with.

I should but I don't. My level is woefully low for how long I've been here.....I speak it everyday in work as the only gaij in school, very few other teachers speak English. I've gotten to a level where my crap Japanese can understand work related things and communicate it in an understandable jumble of Japanese
My situation is exactlty the same. I can usually get my point across but my grammar is horrible.
I've recently started studying but not sure how long the motivation will last with winter just aroud the corner.

Great to see all the love for Gifu and Fukui.
Top target for me ths season is Madarao.
Also I purchased a few advanced tickes for skijam, Dynaland and Winghills so they are definitely on my hit list.

Technically if you use a web based email service than you are using a cloud service, right?
As for privacy I recently had an experience that both very concerning and convenient. I had a family member send me their flight itinerary then on the day of their flight 'google now' automatically updated me with the flight status. It told me their flight was delayed and I can go to the airport 20 minutes later.

There is rain forecast for Monday, hopefully that doesn't destroy the base too much.

Is 'The Cloud' a particular service or cloud services in general, drop box, drive, etc?
I use Google so all my emais and contacts are stored on a cloud service. Yes sometimes I worry about the privacy/security but for me the convenience out ways the concern.

You can do bus tours to Gifu and Fukui that are night bus up, lift pass then afternoon bus back. These packages range from around 8000-12000 depending on what day you go.
