and I don't know why there is all this hostility about my posts. If you have a better point, then just say it. Character sniping is just so easy.

oh for wooloomooloo sake, let me spell this out to you.
The cash for recovery has to come from somwhere. Local spend by locals will not generate the needed funds. Gaijins taking their salaries home to US/Canada/Europe/Ozzie will only add to the fiscal crisis. Hence, lets up the tax for Japan. Great, don't you think?
Tourists spending in Japan is an inflow. You get any of that?
Toyota earnings were 99% down on last year
Honda were 95% down.
So, Japanese helping Japanese will help your country?

Simple question, please do not get prickly stuff up......
Unfounded or otherwise.... why not concentrate on trying not to scare people.
Many peoples livelihoods are and will be further affected.
Mr ILoveZao,
On my recent trip to Japan, I spent alot of money ->
20,000 at Naha hotel
12,000 at Naha restaurant
120,000 at Onnah Hotel
40,000 at Onnah restaurants
80,000 for flights to Ishigaki
130,000 for hotel at Ishigaki
250,000 for black pearl necklace at Kabira Bay.
Thats a total spend of over 65man yen
That was last week. In the meantime, what did you do to safeguard the livelihoods of your people? -
I don't have a particular liking for it. But I don't hate it either. With Thai prawn sashimi, it's lovely. In the Okinawa dish, its just bland.
-
It was hot. Hotter than what I'd expected Japan to be. 37 degrees and 80% humidity settling down to 28 in the evening.
In a place in a triangle among Japan, China and Taiwan, we expected a cultural mix alike to Hawaii. And we got it. The people were dark. Much darker than the Honshu people. They wore Hawaiin shirts and Bermuda shorts, the youth were orange with their ginger hair. A cartoon land in the sticks of farm country. What a beautiful contrast.
Amongst the azzure blues of the coast and the deep blue off the shelf, the sky made the third layer giving the dream of here, now and then. All along the coast people looked upon this beauty and just breathed "c'est la vie".
We met people from Tokyo, Osaka, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Korea. The Japanese came because they had condos in Okinawa. We foreigners came for the sun, sea, sand and seafood. It was strange that grilling fresh fish was special here.
A room with a view
Perfect picture postcard
Oh Sunset
Beautiful giants enslaved. But how werre we to see them otherwise.
Now for dinner: Ishigaki beef
And some black pork.
Would we come back? YES. Defintely. This place is unique, special in it's way and charming for the rustic infrastructure contrasting with the mega hotel luxuries. Try it. It'll surprise you for turning the Japan experience on its head.

Good coverage. Must be some sort of deal on the cards.

and why not. Indeed.

Frankfurt IS a very depressing airport. It has steel netted seats and grey concrete floors. Very functional, but very depressing.
-
And you are an authority on where people can go?

Tevez. He's one uggly mofo.

Japanese airports are great for the range of stuff you can buy. Lavender pillows, cheesecakes, crabs, fish roe, sake, milk, name it.
Now compare that to Heathrow wher there's just burger king and beer.
-
Good good good. Snorkelling sounds great.
Amamori sounds great. I'll be driving, so a couple for the road sounds good.
-
When I go to an Indian restaurant, I always order the chicken tikka, sheekh kebab, lamb vindaloo and pilaf rice. Plus lots of beer.
Can't finish it all though, but the staff must eat sometime.

Curry is my friend. I like it. I just don't like burped in my direction by rag heads first thing in the morning.
If you were truly at one with curry then you would accept it in all it's forms. You are obviously a curryist and definitely not welcome in these parts. You and all your Curry Clux Clan can stay away from Hakuba.
I hear Hakuba is rubbish anyway. So not going there. -

Now. Where to go!
To avoid radiactive snow, best to go north. Looks like Hokkaido will be bursting come this winter. -
I will not go to Honshu because of the radioactive contamination.
Hokkaido and the extreme south are OK so far, but it'll be a maater of time before the contaminated food and water get there.
-
Ski. And you Tubbybeavis?

whers all the snow gone?

If you don't like it, no problem - don't go.
If you want to find somewhere more Japanese and less 'united nations' then what is wrong with asking:
"I am looking for recommendations for good Japanese ski resorts that are less popular with foreign tourists".
I'd recommend Rusutsu, but we horrid foreigners have found that too.
I believe some of us have discovered Tommamu...
And on Honshu we have infiltrated Happo, 47, Iwatake, Cortina, Naeba, Nozawa Onsen...
Need I go on?
Niseko is the most 'commercial' and 'international' of the ski resorts in Japan, followed fairly closely by Hakuba resorts. Outside of these you should hear less UN accents.
Better stay away from those too I suppose. Better safe than sorry. -

Over the Northern areas of Hokkaido we found hotels with two or three lifts and a hand full of people skiing.
Tommamu is nice, as is Sahoro but you better not stay at club mad (French People might be there). I am not overly sold on Furano but love Rusutsu.
Shiga Kogen, now there is a place that I love or you could stay at Hukaba but there is just as many Aussies as there are in Niseko.
Six trips to Niseko, seriously, you need to get away from there, Japan has so much more to offer.
Great info. Best stay away from Hakuba then. -

really are there still drum brakes used on cars?
It's either double ventilated discs front and single ventilated back or just disc back.
