Started as a skier, but tried snowboarding about 5 years ago and won't touch the skis now. Love snowboarding, it's so much fun....

thanks "black mountain" for the response - I had accessed the information on google maps, but I had heard they shut a lot of roads in winter so was more concerned about taking the wrong route.

Hi, I'm hiring a car to travel from Sapporo Chitose airport to Tomamu and then to Furano and from there to Niseko. Can anyone help me with routes/map information. I will be travelling in January 2011 (so snow season). Wondering if many roads gets closed. Thanks heaps

I had skiied for several years when my male partner obviously thought it would be hilarious to see me crash and burn. He gave me his snowboard and boots (obviously too big for me) - took me up to the top of the mountain and said "this is easy strap in and go straight down". To his and my amazement I went down quickly and without falling and have never been back on skis.

We have boarded for several years in Rusutsu, Furano, Niseko and Tomanu, once at Hakuba. We are thinking of trying Nozawa Onsen and Myoko (probably myoko akakura). Can anyone comment on the runs (looking for something intermediate to advanced, some with tree runs). Also if anyone can comment on accomodation and where to eat. Thanks
