OK back now with relieved family.
Went quite quick actually. Possibly helped on by the extra engine the plane grew due to radiation.

Report from Narita.
No panic.
No shouting or losing nerves.
No-one freaking out.
Actually it is quite quiet.
Ueno was certainly the quietest I have seen it I would say.
No more gaijin than usual here.
Things seem to be happening close to normal, just a few shops closed.
Sorry it can't be more exciting.
Take care all. I'll be back in two weeks once I have calmed my parents down and given some 'journalists' a slap.

I've decided to go home for a couple of weeks.
Not really because I'm freaked out, I'm actually holding out pretty good, but because my family seems to be freaking out back home.
Of course, it will be good to get out for a bit as well and have a guaranteed firm ground to sit, stand and sleep on.
I've made a donation to help recovery so there's not much else I can do.
But I'll be back pretty quickly.

There was an interesting thing on the earthquakes just before.
They were saying that they basically don't know. But the best opinion is that the Shizuoka one wasn't really connected to the dreaded Tokai. But, the huge Tohoku one was just so big that there may be a chance of other quakes happening here and there - like we have seen Niigata/Nagano and Shizuoka.

OK thanks.
Not doing much.
No work.
Just really spending some time reading, watching movies, sometimes checking the news etc.
Friend over in Tsunan had some damage from Sat. morning shakes.
-
muika, they have announced that they are NOT going to be doing it this evening. You are ok for today.
-
Decent people who have been through a strong quake experience simple do not giggle and laugh at others going through the same. Full. Stop.
It was a strong quake right from the minute it happened and was being reported as such.
-
If someone from Kansai laughs and giggles, they almost certainly did not go through the disaster there.
Unless they are a robot with absolutely no emotion, or just a really unlikable person.

Not offensive at all, just obvious. I don't know you.
No need to get your knickers twisted up, I wasn't directhing the comment to you in any way.

Well, obviously. -

12.52 GMT “An onslaught of relentlessly unsettling television news, fast-emptying supermarket shelves, fuel rationing at petrol stations and a maelstrom of blood-curdling internet rumours has prompted scores of British, American and European families to leave Tokyo,†reports The Times’s Leo Lewis, in the Japanese capital.
A friend of mine is taking his family back to Canada tomorrow for these very fears. He was downtown Tokyo dodging glass and other falling debris during the quake and was pretty freaked so ya...who would I be to say he was overreacting.
Does this guy work?
(Going for good?)
Is it so easy to do that?
I suppose I have stronger and longer links to this place and that is something that would be a very extreme decision. -
I would guess that generally someone who has been through a strong earthquake experience - I doubt they will be rushing to the hills anytime soon.
Someone who hasn't had that experience may well be much more cavalier in attitude, however horrible the images are. Experiencing it changes your outlook immensely.
Me? Not likely for a while thats for sure.

Trucks coming up the road have taken on a sinister rumbling aftershock kind of sound.
-
They were the scariest of the lot.
Wow, the story comes to Niigata.
-
The idea just makes me shudder.
I think I'd rather not go!
-
Just a cloudy kind of start to the day here in Tokamachi.
-
Snowing over the hill in Tokamachi but it's that kind of 'it would be rain if it wasn't white' kind of wet snow, so nothing sticking right now.
-
Are you a practising 'naturalist' then tripler?
Like down the beach and hiking and stuff?
-
He's not going 'up' much is he?
Would be much cooler if he flew off up to the top of the hill on his pack. More development needed.
-
Will call tonight, I'll be over there tomorrow
-
muika did you make it to the Urasa naked man festival?
-
Always disappointing once the Festival is over as they go round destroying them all as they post some sort of 'danger'. Unspecified danger, but that's what I have been told!
-
I really don't take good care of my stuff out of season it just sort of gets bunged away in the corner in the garage. I really should get out of that habit.
