Here are my two cents on Shiga Kogen:

1. Yakebitaiyama - nice tree runs to the skier's left of both gondolas
2. Ichinose Family - again, nice tree runs to the right of Ichinose and above Tan-ne no mori Okojyo when facing the mountain

Hi Flip, Not sure on my compass directions there but I was standing on the pavement in front of the shopd and looking across the road up high above the Nikko Nature Museum. I seem to recall a small cable car near there also.

A Question about the Nikko area.

When I was standing in the main street of Chuzenji Onsen last in February looked way up the hill behind the bus stop & I could see people skiing past right at the top. I could not see any way of getting there.

Does anybody know what that ski area is?

You should. Yokoteyama was until not so long ago skiers only (and still boarders are limited to some runs) while Kumanoyu is skiers only.
Often great snow up there too.

What is your favourite Shiga area after fresh snowfall

Heading to Shiga Kogen for the first time & have a couple of questions.

1/ Does Shiga have a good range of on-course restaurants like Nozawa (spoilt for choice there), or do you eat at accommodation base areas?

2/ Is it possible to ski all of the red & black runs over 7 days? (conditions permitting)

Any info on Shiga Kogen appreciated.
