Gassan is less than 12km from the Gassan IC exit of the Yamagata Expressway.

From the Gassan IC exit head south on Route 122 and then after just under 1km turn left (remaining on Route 112). Follow this road for just over 6km and then turn right onto Prefecture Road 114. This road head up to the Gassan car parks.

There is parking for about 500 vehicles close to the base of Gassan. There are charges for parking.
