Ushidake Onsen is a ski area located in the western region of Toyama City in Toyama Prefecture.
This ski area has one 1531m quad and two pair lifts (796m and 816m) currently in operation. The ski area itself makes the bold claim of having 'the best views in Japan', with views of the Tateyama mountain range and the Sea of Japan.
Ushidake Onsen opened in 1971 as the first city-operated ski area.
At one time, there also used to be a separate section of Ushidake Onsen called Utopia Gelande. A valley-spanning Ropeway lift connected the Utopia ski runs with the current operating ski area. However, both the Ropeway and Utopia are now closed. More information can be found on SnowJapanHistory.
Ushidake Onsen is one of several ski areas in Toyama City. The others are Awasuno and Tateyama Sanroku, both in the eastern region of the city.
