Riverwell Ikawa is a ski area located in Shizuoka City in Shizuoka Prefecture. It is in a remote spot about 50km north of the city centre.
The ski run at Riverwell Ikawa is 300m long and serviced by a simple 230m 'belt conveyor' moving walkway rather than a ski lift. In addition, there is another belt conveyor for the 50m sledging area. (Both can be seen on the Google Earth image below).
Fine panoramic views of the surrounding mountains can be enjoyed from this ski area on a clear day, including the South Alps and Mt Fuji.
Riverwell Ikawa is one of only two ski areas in Shizuoka Prefecture. The other is Snow Park Yeti, the ski area that is famous for being the first to open every season.

Introduction to the region
Shizuoka Prefecture is located in the Chubu region of the main island of Honshu and borders Nagano, Yamanashi, Kanagawa, and Aichi Prefectures.
The tallest mountain in Japan, Mount Fuji, is partially located in Shizuoka Prefecture and neighbouring Yamanashi Prefecture.
There are currently two ski areas operating in Shizuoka Prefecture.
Riverwell Ikawa is the only ski area operating in Shizuoka City.
Snow Park Yeti is the other ski area in the prefecture. It is usually the first ski area in Japan to open each season (with artificial snow) and is located in Susono City, with a backdrop of Mt Fuji.
