Yomase Onsen, often known as just Yomase, is a ski area located on the southern slopes of Mt Kosha in Yamanouchi Town in the northeastern region of Nagano Prefecture.
This ski area has one quad lift (1,000m) and three pair lifts (360m, 1,100m and 560m), and south-facing ski runs. An additional pair lift connects this ski area with the neighbouring X-JAM Takaifuji.
At one time, there were five individual ski areas on this mountain. Not too long ago, there was an ambitious plan to promote them collectively as Mt Kosha, with an all-mountain shared lift pass. The ski areas are (north to south clockwise) The Kijima Snow Park, Snow Resort Romance no Kamisama, Yamabiko-no-oka, X-JAM Takaifuji and Yomase Onsen. The original Mt Kosha plan fell through, and the central section, Yamabiko-no-oka, is now closed (more information on SnowJapanHistory). In recent years, the only joint lift ticket available on the mountain has been for Yomase Onsen and the lift/course connected X-JAM Takafuji.
Since the 2024-2025 season, Yomase Onsen and X-JAM have been increasingly promoting themselves as one, more than they have before, and they share a website. The official joint name is Mt.KOSHA X-Jam Takaifuji & Yomase Onsen (Mt.KOSHA X-JAM高井富士 & よませ温泉スキー場).

A lift ticket valid for just the Number 1 and 5 pair lifts at Yomase Onsen is 2,700 yen for 1 day (adult).
There is a cheaper ticket available for people ages 65 and over (3,400 yen for 1 day).
A morning ticket is valid from opening until 1:00pm.
An afternoon ticket is valid from 12:00pm until closing.

Introduction to the region
Nagano Prefecture is located in the Chubu region of the main island of Honshu. It is one of only eight landlocked prefectures in Japan, bordered by Niigata, Gunma, Saitama, Yamanashi, Shizuoka, Aichi, Gifu, and Toyama.
Nagano Prefecture is sometimes referred to as 'the roof of Japan' because of the steep, rugged terrain of the many 2,000-3,000m mountains that comprise the Japan Alps. The Northern Alps are located along the northwestern region bordering Gifu and Toyama. The Central Alps are in the southwestern region, and the Southern Alps are along the southeastern border.
After Hokkaido, Nagano Prefecture is home to the second-largest number of ski areas in Japan. It has multiple world-class winter sports resorts within its boundaries, and some were venues for the main events of the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. There are ski areas throughout the mountains of Nagano Prefecture, but the majority are in the northern and central regions.
Yomase Onsen is located in the northern region of Yamanouchi Town, traditionally known as Kita Shiga.
The popular ski areas of Shiga Kogen are to the southwest.
