Okuradake Kogen is a ski area located in Komatsu City in the southern region of Ishikawa Prefecture.

This city-operated ski area has north-facing slopes and three pair lifts (889m, 342m and 654m).

It is usually open for night skiing until 9:00pm on Tuesdays through Saturdays and generally closed on Mondays.

Okuradake Kogen opened in 1969.

At one time, there was apparently a plan to connect Okuradake Kogen with the nearby Torigoe Dainichi Sportsland ski area (in Hakusan City). However, the project never happened, and that ski area eventually closed in 2012. More information on Torigoe Dainichi Sportslandcan be found on SnowJapanHistory.

Introduction to the region

Ishikawa Prefecture is located in the Chubu region of Honshu. The prefecture shares borders with Toyama Prefecture to the east, Gifu Prefecture to the southeast and Fukui Prefecture to the south.

The ski areas currently operating in Ishikawa are located in the mountains within and around Hakusan City in the southern region of the prefecture, though there used to be quite a few more. See the SnowJapanHistory for more details.

Okuradake Kogen is the only ski area currently operating in Komatsu City.
