2026-2027 season information

Mid-December 2026 until mid-March 2027

Information status
Not yet updated

Manza Onsen is a ski area located in Tsumagoi Village in the western region of Gunma Prefecture.

This ski area opened in 1956.

There is now one 721m quad lift and three pair lifts (327m, 732m, 501m) operating at Manza Onsen.

Unfortunately, due to criminals stealing various items in September 2024, the ski area downsized operations for the 2024-2025 ski season with only the 327m Prince lift (pair) operating for the season and only the A1 and A2 courses will be available. The same was the case for the 2025-2026 season, with hopefully a return to normal coming soon. (To be updated).

Aside from the above issue, Manza Onsen Ski Area used to be larger than it currently (normally) is, and there used to be a few sections that are now closed. Those sections were Asahiyama, Kumaike and (going back even further in time) Manza Ropeway. Links to the relevant listings on the SnowJapanHistory website.

Introduction to the region

Gunma Prefecture is located in the northwestern part of the Kanto region on the main island of Honshu. It is one of eight landlocked prefectures in Japan. Gunma is surrounded by Niigata Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture to the north, Nagano Prefecture to the west, Tochigi Prefecture to the east, and Saitama Prefecture to the south.

The ski areas of Gunma are largely found in the northern region (Minakami Town, Kawaba Village and Katashina Village) and the western region (Kusatsu Town and Tsumagoi Village).

Tsumagoi is the most westerly town or village in Gunma Prefecture, with Ueda City in Nagano Prefecture as its neighbour.

Manza Onsen is one of 3 ski areas currently operating in Tsumagoi Village.
