2026-2027 season information

Mid-December 2026 until late March 2027

Information status
Not yet updated

Hida Takayama is a ski area located east of central Takayama City in the northern region of Gifu Prefecture.

This area typically enjoys good snow conditions, and fine 360 views can be enjoyed from the top of the ski area.

There are three lifts at Hida Takayama, but they have not been open as normal over the last few years. The ski area did not open for the 2020-2021 season due to damage from the heavy rainfall in July 2020. It did re-open for the 2021-2022 season, but since then only the 479m Mominoki pair lift has been operating.

That same lift is open for the 2025-2026 season. (The ski area statistics on this page take that into account).

Introduction to the region

Gifu Prefecture is located in central Japan and is one of only eight landlocked prefectures in the country. It is surrounded by seven other prefectures: Aichi, Mie, Shiga, Fukui, Ishikawa, Toyama and Nagano.

All the ski areas in Gifu Prefecture are in the northern mountainous regions of the Prefecture, in Gujo City, Takayama City and Hida City.

Six ski areas in Gujo City recently joined together for promotional purposes under the Takasu Mountains brand. (Takasu is the name of a neighbourhood in Gujo City. In 2004, Takasu Village merged with several other towns and villages to form the current city). That area is particularly popular with people visiting from Nagoya and Osaka. Train links are not particularly convenient, so most people travel by car or bus.

Hida Takayama is one of 4 ski areas currently operating in Takayama City.
