Nihonmatsu Shiozawa is a ski area located on the eastern slopes of Mt Adatara in Nihonmatsu City in the northern region of Fukushima Prefecture.
This ski area is the most easterly ski area in Fukushima and not too far from Adatara Kogen, also in Nihonmatsu City.
Nihonmatsu Shiozawa has two pair lifts (333m and 479m), but for the last few seasons the Number 2 pair lift has not be operating. It will also not be operating during the 2025-2026 season.
The ski area is just over 5km northwest of the main Dake Onsen hot springs and overlooks the Nihonmatsu plain, Fukushima and Koriyama.

Normal season dates
Nihonmatsu Shiozawa usually plans to be open from late December until early March. See below for the actual opening and closing dates in recent seasons.
Normal opening hours
Nihonmatsu Shiozawa is normally open from 9:00am until 4:00pm every day. The ski area is normally closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays (exceptions: 31st December and 1st January; 22nd January; 11th February).
Night skiing
There is no night skiing during the 2025-2026 season.

There is a kids area near base called Yukiyama Hiroba.

Ski and snowboard lessons are available at Nihonmatsu Shiozawa.

Introduction to the region
Fukushima Prefecture is the southernmost prefecture of the Tohoku region of northern Japan. Fukushima Prefecture borders Miyagi Prefecture and Yamagata Prefecture to the north, Niigata Prefecture to the west, Gunma Prefecture to the southwest, and Tochigi Prefecture and Ibaraki Prefecture to the south.
The majority of the ski areas in Fukushima Prefecture are in the northern region around Mt. Bandai and north of Lake Inawashiro (the fourth-largest lake in Japan), as well as in the western region of the prefecture.
