Aizu Kogen Daikura is a ski area located in Minamiaizu Town in the southwestern region of Fukushima Prefecture.
This ski area has two triple lifts, two pair lifts and one single lift at the top. That single lift is usually only open on weekends and holidays.
There is something of an old-school traditional feel to some of the facilities at this ski area.
Dai-chan is the popular character mascot of Aizu Kogen Daikura. Dai-chan is (apparently) a bear, amiable, has a massive head and has been known to blog and make regular appearances at the ski area on weekends.
There are four ski areas in Minamiaizu Town, the others being Aizu Kogen Nango, Aizu Kogen Takatsue and Kita Nikko Takahata. This region might not be as convenient as the ski areas around Mt Bandai, but the snow quality is often good.
