The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . Good morning from Yuzawa. And it's definitely better than yesterday with dry conditions to start the day but lots of cloud. Whether the sun will appear later on or not we'll just have to wait and see. Both GALA Yuzawa and Kagura open as planned this morning. What else is there? Looking to the weekend we can probably expect sunshine and quite warm conditions on both Saturday and Sunday. --- Resorts that remain open in Yuzawa on Friday 8th April 2016): GALA Yuzawa GALA Yuzawa resort plans to be open until Sunday 8th May. Four of the six courses in the Central Area and one course in the Northern Area currently remain open. The downhill Falcon course back to the Cowabunga base is now closed. Official snow depth: 90cm Kagura The Tashiro Ropeway plans to be open until 8th May. The Kagura area via Mitsumata Ropeway plans to be open until 29th May. All areas currently remain open apart from the Gondola east course and the downhill course back to Mitsumata car park which is now closed. Official snow depth: Kagura area - 220cm Tashiro area - 190cm Mitsumata area - 160cm --- Resorts that are not listed below are now closed for the season. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . I have been discussing this with a few friends this last week.... has it been a good autumn or not in terms of weather? Well, we seem to have had more rain than usual again but we have also had a decent share of fine weather and some spectacular autumn colours in the last week or so. A few sightings of snow as well on the higher mountains, and a bit spotted on the top area of Kagura as well - though this morning a look at the webcam doesn't show any up there. This morning the sun is out again and it looks like it will be a fine day with a high of around 15C at town level. Kagura plans to open for the snow season on Saturday 22nd November, so that's less than 2 weeks away! The latest Naeba Now report can be found here. Well, yesterday was one of the best-forgotten kind of day, and this morning we do have snow... but not a whole lot really. Just a sprinkling at base of Naeba with 5cm reported on the top of the resort and at Kagura. Heavier and wetter than the perfect kind of snow as well, but we'll take it. Snowfall is still forecast for the day, though as I am writing this I can actually see some patches of blue sky up there and the sun is trying to win through. Noooo! Snow please. That same forecast says snow for the next few days well into the week, so lets hope they get it right and we get a nice new delivery of the dry variety for new year.
