Snow should continue flurrying for the rest of the day and be at its heaviest early tomorrow morning. The slight breeze will be noticeable at the top of the Gondola but well worth getting up there for advanced skiers. Furano side is offering better snow conditions at this stage. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . The view from the town looking toward the resort this morning is just picture perfect with not a cloud to be seen over the mountain. The morning has started off above freezing and will reach a high of around 9c today. The sun is out in all of its glory and should stay with us through the day. Snow conditions will be soft spring snow from the morning and I would expect it will get pretty slushy on the lower mountain. Tomorrow's weather is also looking pretty good with a mix of cloud and sun, but Sunday will be a contrast to the good weather with heavy rain on the radar for the morning. (Check out that +10cm on the snow depth number!) I want to get out there now. Here in Naeba it's not quite that much but still a very nice layer of new snow. It started to fall in earnest, if you know what I mean, in the evening yesterday and doesn't seem to have let up. I would say 30-40cm here in Naeba. It goes without saying that today conditions should be, wait for it, epic! I never use that word lightly. For the moment looks like resort areas are all open as planned. • Naeba Now: Monday 25th February 2013

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Naeba region of Niigata New snowfall at base 25cm Snowfall at base this season 747cm Weather overview Snow Wind Moderate Temperature - Visibility Poor Posted on Monday 25th February 2013 This is an archived report. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here . Well yesterday was a bit of a mad one. With only the Mitsumata area of Kagura open, terrain was limited but the snow was of course excellent. It kept on snowing as well and by the time people were ready to finish up for the day traffic on Route 17 was in gridlock. Took more than a few people quite a long time to get back to the train station in Yuzawa and the Interchange. This morning Kagura is reporting yet another 40cm of new snowfall. And it's still snowing. And.... today all areas of Kagura will be open. Well, the main Kagura bit up to the main quad lift. Here in Naeba we have stronger winds persisting this morning which may well affect some lifts, though it looks like the resort plans to have the Number 2 Gondola operating. This has probably been one of the most snow-receiving winter storms of the season. Not bad at all for late February. Bottomless, anyone?! ;) Snow conditions could hardly be better, even if we tried to imagine it and the lucky folk going up there this morning will surely be in for a treat. Just be careful where you go and don't overdo it, you could very easily get buried in the snow. ---- Official resort snow depth: Naeba - 320cm Kagura - 390cm Incredibly, we're still on '390cm', even though we've had close to 2m of snow fall within the last 6 days!
