Santa came up with some amazing weather for Christmas Day and some equally amazing temperatures. If you were out there you would have definitely been impressed by the crystal clear blue skies, Santa on skis and the coooold temperatures. Furano town recorded a super low -26c yesterday morning and if that amazes you then even more impressive was Asahikawa City which fell to a rather chilly -29.5c. It started to snow lightly last night and by morning there was 15cm of fresh at village level. The wind was also blowing quite strongly so it will be wind affected in places but there is likely to be some very very good powder around in sheltered areas. The good news is todays winds does not seemed to have interferred with lift operations too much. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . It was an absolutely gorgeous blue-sky day today. A few flurries over night, and then the clouds cleared out for the whole day. After all the snow clouds we've been seeing for the past few weeks, the sun was a welcome sight in Furano. Thanks to the beautiful weather, temperatures topped out at a balmy -8, making it an excellent day for skiing. Things are starting to cool off a bit now, but it looks like the bitterly cold air we've been experiencing for the last week won't be returning tonight. Tomorrow promises snow, snow and more snow as a system works it's way across Hokkaido. The clouds should move in over night, and the snow is forecast to start just before dawn.
