The latest Furano Now report can be found here . The new week has been welcomed in by a nice dump of new snow. The village has received 10cm overnight and we expect even more to have fallen up on the mountain. This is different snow than the regular light Furano powder, having a higher moisture content, and is exactly what is needed to help bulk up the base on the lower mountain. More snow is forecast for today and tomorrow. Early season is looking great. Furano Ropeway is open 8:30-14:40 for access to the upper mountain and the skiable lift is Furano Romance lift 2 open 8:45-15:00. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Good and bad news for today. The good news is that there has been 10cm new snow since yesterday and the base on the mountain is rapidly increasing. The not so good news is that the ski area is unable to open today due to ice build up on Furano Ropeway. Hopefully all this will be removed today and things will be back to normal by tomorrow. Assuming things are open tomorrow it will be great conditions for the earlybirds with a substantial amount of fresh snow having fallen in the last couple of days and nobody has been able to ski it. This is now well gone and the snow has returned and has already left a fresh layer of 5cm around the village. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . We're off to a chilly start this morning. Clear skies and calm winds led to overnight lows around -24. Not quite as cold as the wintery blast we saw around Christmas, but cold enough to make you want to bundle up as you head out there on those slopes today. You might want to think about adding an extra layer of clothing if you're thinking about heading out there for a few early runs. The good news for the day is that the clouds have broken up and the sun is shining through. There are a few flurries flying here and there, but on the whole we've got plenty of blue skies, sunshine, and southerly winds in the forecast for today that should warm us up to the minus single digits in no time. We got a healthy dose of snow yesterday, so there should be plenty of fresh spots on the mountain for your winter sporting enjoyment. Also, a chance for some significant snow overnight means tomorrow will be a good day for skiing as well!
