Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 0cm Posted on Wednesday 5th November 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba! The 2025-2026 snow season is (hopefully) just less than a month away, with the big ski areas hoping to open at the end of November. After a long and hot summer, we are currently still largely in autumn mode. But... the mountains have received snow. And actually a nice bit up too, with Hakuba 47 yesterday reporting 15-20cm of snow on upper areas. Very nice. I'll report on fresh snowfall - especially when it falls down to base - over the coming weeks. Let's hope we are in for a bumper snow season. Back soon... Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 2cm Snowfall at base this season 2cm Posted on Wednesday 19th November 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . The sun is out now but overnight we got a blast of winter conditions, and a layer of snow. It is (was) a thin layer down around base areas, but a fair bit more up top. Hakuba 47 is reporting about 30cm* of snowfall on upper areas. 30 inches would be amazing, but 30cm sounds pretty good too! The thin layer outside my place has gone now, but the mountains are looking good. It currently looks like it should be relatively mild over the coming days with a share of sunshine. (* The auto-translate on Facebook is translating the original "30cm" as "30 inches". Be wary of these wild inaccuracies!) Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 15cm Posted on Saturday 29th November 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Good morning from Nozawa. It's the first day of the ski season. While we might not have any snow on the ground down below, there is enough snow for the Yamabiko A, C, D and E runs to open this morning... helped along by a reported 7cm of fresh snowfall up there since yesterday. Webcam images look nice, too. No sign of Naski (everyone's favourite bright green skiing vegetable mascot) yet, but being as gnarly as Naski is, I would not bet against an appearance! Let's ski season. We expect some clear weather over the next few days with a nice snowy cold front due by late on Wednesday. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . This morning may be wet and not particularly nice down in the village, there is some good news to tell you. The ski area has announced it's firm intention to open on Saturday (29th November). They plan to have at least the Yamabiko D run open initially, with other top courses opening up if/when there's more snow to allow for that. A word of warning: the auto translate on Facebook this morning in English starts with "Nozawa Onsen Ski Area is now open". No, it is not open. It intends to open on Saturday, as I noted above. I noticed a similar incorrect auto-translate on another report. Please be very wary of these things. Work is clearly required to improve that kind of thing. Ahh, the days of having to check Facebook are back. :( Information on the ski area: Nozawa Onsen Nozawa Now 2025-2026 season Data as of Wednesday 26th November 2025 Total snowfall at base 15cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 1 day Most snowfall observed in 1 day 15cm (on 19th November) November 2025 snowfall 15cm reported on 1 day Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Nozawa Onsen. • Niseko Now: Sunday 12th April 2026

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 3cm Snowfall at base this season 878cm Sunday greetings from Niseko. Well, while I wouldn't call it 'heavy snow', we did actually get some and enough for me to several cm to this report from base (with a slight rounding up to the whole number). It looks to me like there might have been slightly more on the south side of the mountain and perhaps 5-10cm or so in higher areas. Here's how much snow the ski areas are reporting: Hanazono: 5cm (base), 10cm (top) Hirafu: 10cm Annupuri: 10cm Of course, Niseko Village is going with 0cm. ;) The downer might be that wind might still affect top lifts this morning. Anyway, yay! A nice surprise bonus and enough to tempt me... Today is the last day of the season for Niseko Hanazono and Niseko Village. • Nozawa Now: Sunday 25th January 2026

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 76cm Snowfall at base this season 486cm Posted on Sunday 25th January 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . So, heavy snow it is! The ski area this morning is reporting, wait for it, up to 80cm of fresh snow since yesterday 3pm. That's not including any before then (which I was unable to check). They are also reporting 60-70cm at base areas. I can myself report my measurement of 76cm as of 9:00am. Now that is proper Nozawa-style snowfall! The kind that gets me super excited. Limited to very poor visibility outside this morning and I gather a few lifts delayed but the mountain is open. Take super care out there and absolutely know where you are going. (Naski won't always be on point to give directions!) Tomorrow and Tuesday should bring some calmer and friendlier weather and maybe some sun too, but there's more snow expected beyond that. ---------------------------- Fresh snowfall since yesterday afternoon (reported by the ski area): Yamabiko: 80cm Uenotaira: 75cm Hikage: 70cm Nagasaka: 70cm Karasawa: 60cm Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area): Yamabiko: 270cm Uenotaira: 235cm Hikage: 170cm Nagasaka: 165cm Karasawa: 150cm Scheduled lift operations: All operating but some may be delayed Courses that are not available (when the ski area is operating as normal): All open Information on the ski area: Nozawa Onsen Nozawa Now 2025-2026 season Data as of Sunday 25th January 2026 Total snowfall at base 486cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 29 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 76cm (on 25th January) November 2025 snowfall 15cm reported on 1 day December 2025 snowfall 134cm reported on 11 days January 2026 snowfall 337cm reported on 17 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Nozawa Onsen. Thankfully, things started cooling down from the second half of September and we have been enjoying some colder temperatures over the last week or so. I have even used my heater a few times. And.... there's been snow up there on the upper areas of the mountain. See photos below from this morning. Nozawa Onsen hopes to open on Saturday 29th November. That's less than four weeks away! Naski, Nozawa's favourite bright green skiing vegetable mascot, is getting increasingly excited. No snow down to base yet and I'll let you known when there is.
